When does reality start to set in for travel ball parents?

I mean the reality is Braxtyn is not as good as you’ve told him he was since he was 7. He’s not getting a scholarship. But maybe he’ll be able to root on his best friend Kaydyn who gets an offer from a junior college in northeast Arkansas.
Do you bother adding up the wasted money at that point, or do you just pop a cold one and sit outside your trailer and think of what might have been?

What if I told you not all travel ball parents have their kids there to earn a scholarship, but instead keep their kid’s social group consistent/away from undesirables

Sorry about your son. But he’s better for it.

I often wonder if the moms ever get tired of making the same Facebook post every Sunday night/Monday morning.
“So proud of this group of boys!! The Ripperzz came up a few runs short of the ship but we still coming home with some hardware!!!”
Followed by a pic of their 8 year old with a Kenny Powers mullet, oversized shades and a plastic ring

Play rec and put the hotel/gas/tourney $ in a 529 plan. Pretty much like a scholarship except Jaxxtyn gets to pick the school and doesn't have to take a scholarship to Ticksaw-Motchatchee Southwest Tech.

I have two sons. Both turned into fine men. Neither played travel ball. But I’m sure your kid benefitted from it greatly.

Somebody is mad that his kid didn’t make the team.

The parent get told he's good to fluff out the travel team fee base. In reality, 3 or 4 will start in high school and 1 might get a scholly to a low tier school.

I wonder if there is a lot of swinging going on with travel ball parents?
That would at least be some kind of reasonable explanation.

The worst, in my opinion, are the kids who have no business playing beyond their shitty high school team but their parents don’t have the balls or self-awareness to give it to them straight, so the kid proceeds to waste two to four years of his life at a shite rural JUCO or shite small NAIA college for the sake of playing by baseball a few more years.
You’re harming your future for the sake of a couple more years of shitty baseball.

I understand there is some heat out there at the diamond. So maybe you have a good point. (In reality it’s probably 10% heat and 90% fugly, like everywhere else.)

Reality sets in when their little one finally gets that DIv 1 scholarship. It’s ok for your kids not to be all that good. Rec ball is there for a reason. My kids had to play with wood bats when they played rec to limit the chances of hurting one of them kids who just aren’t quick enough to get the glove up.

Nah there’s no magic in going to a big school for four years.

Two of mine played travel ball but it was mostly local or sites within the states with an annual beach vacation/tournament. They both played HS and then college ball. Soooooo, yeah good memories for us.

It really hits once mom has to blow the coach to keep Braxxton on the starting line up.
