Instead it just revolves around multiple attention whoring OT threads a day.

Made it 16 years with the last one.

AC went out and was just time for a change.

well if you truly live in Austin, you have 30/60/25 coverage to be “legal” as you call it.

If you’re stupid enough to do that with a net worth of 2 mill, it’s only a matter of time.

when maintenance is more that a monthly note or overall price of vehicle

I see a lot of people saying this, I've had some old vehicles and never paid for maintenance that was more than a monthly note.

05 Silverado that I drove to 293k

97 Camry that I drove to 182k

Currently have an 08 Silverado with 150k, 16 Highlander 87k, and an 11 Camry with 172k

Consider yourself lucky.
And it’s not really just the cost. These days the repair shops are a cluster frick to deal with.

I really wish I had pulled the trigger on a new truck before the pandemic hit…almost did…

But between that and refinancing our house @ 2.6% I’ll take the house every time, man.

I’ll see how the market is in another year.

Low interest rates. But thinking about buying an old school square body truck and keeping it forever instead of doing the same song and dance Bs that morons continue falling for.

Do you understand how LIABILITY works? Every single time your dumbass runs from the question. It has nothing to do with the value of your vehicle. If your net worth is 2 million and you have a liability limit of 25k, your exposure is enormous. You try to act like a fricking big shot on here, but continue to prove how fricking retarded you are daily. No one with a net worth of 2 million is driving around willingly with zero coverage to protect said net worth. We can all thank you I suppose, once Gordon milks your arse dry to pay for some NIL deals because you don’t have basic understanding of liability.

Bet that butthole is gonna picker for ole tac when he gets taken to the anal woodshed by some ambulance chaser. I wonder if he’ll be able to pay cash for everything like he lectures everyone else about all the time after the bloodsuckers get through with him.

When some meth head junkie smashes into your paid for Jeep that you planned to keep for several more years and the insurance company decides it is totaled.

Not looking forward to used car shopping and finding something within a week (when the insurance company stops paying for the rental).

My car is 9 years old and subconsciously I still think of it as my newish car. I’ve searched online to look to see what I would like next and I inevitably end up looking at the newer version of my exact same car. I remember being susceptible to the new car buzz/itch but I think it’s left me.

At this point in my life I can do it when I want. Only going to change if I see something better. I got alot of money tied up in my truck leather kit, radio, lifted, etc.

Old days when I drove 70,000 miles a year, it was when the truck repairs would cost more than what the truck was worth. I would put 300,000 Hwy miles on my trucks without major issues. Again, highways miles is different on wear and tear from stop & go miles.

What is the OTs method for deciding on a new vehicle?

My son got his driver's license and I was left without a vehicle 3-4 times so I went and bought one.

Gave him the used one, apparently.

I have a 2015 Toyota Prius that has 107,000 miles on it. We sold my husband's Corolla years ago when I began to work remotely. I now have a company car.

I Can not afford to buy a car that costs 20,000-25,0000used with 130,000-150,000 miles on it. Some of them are 3-owner cars, have been in wrecks, etc.

Why would any of us pay up to $500 a month for this?

When all the little bullshite sensors and electronics start failing.

The powertrains are overall good- it’s the bullshite that goes along with it.

Mileage, when the typical car gets up over 200K miles, things will begin to fail (even the Hondas, Toyotas). I have a 2008 Eddie Bauer Explorer with about 220K miles that I need to sell. 16 yo has been driving it as his first car, but wanted one that doesn't use as much gas. Just took possession of an 08 Accord EX w 108k miles (4 banger). He loves it, should last through college.

I buy low mileage, loaded cars and keep them as long as i can. Still have my 05 Rubicon (187k miles), 2000 F350 Lariat (7.3, 180k miles - good for 500k), and my 66 Fastback.
