Possibly the most amazing aspect of the OT is it’s ability to have the breaking news stories. Any time someone asks if I have heard about an incident, I come to the OT and there will be someone with inside knowledge posting about it.

Or if someone tells me there is a breaking news story out there about whatever, but there are no details. I come here and sure enough, someone has the details.

I started posting here on a summer internship my sophomore/junior year in college. I’m 32 now. Kinda wild.

I came back here after not having much time the last 4-5 years. It’s a lot different. Too much political idiocy these days.

The people downvoting are the people who don’t realize they are like male versions of Facebook Karen’s. I’ve noticed it as well.

This happened in pretty much every internet forum I frequent. The 2016 election rocked internet culture and the lasting effects are still lingering.

Wouldn't people who were 22 years old in 2005 now be 37 years old now? Or has time stood still in your little world? Are you not out of your parents house yet and full of regret and envy?

Message boards are a relic of the late 90's - 2000's. I'd say the vast majority of posters here and other sports message boards were in college or just out of college during that time. It was pre-social media and message boards were the best/quickest way to get sports information.

We just all got old and started talking about old people stuff and college kids stopped using message boards.

The last several months, this forum is only slightly better than the bullshite you see on Facebook - maybe even a bit more trashy. The OT is now an old shell of itself, full of old people who carry old ideas.

Lot of young people (18-23) don't use message boards, some might not even remember when they were the main way to connect with others who shared a niche interest.

I have been a message board guy since I started using the internet, back around 2001-2002. I'm 28 now and I come here to get away from places like Reddit or twitter. This place is nothing like facebook, mainly because the majority of people who use facebook as their main form of communication wouldn't understand how a message board works.

I deleted my FB about 3 years ago, but when I was active on there, it was full of a bunch of my relatives who barely knew how to turn on a computer.

People grow up. The college senior who was posting on the OT in the early 2000’s is now In their mid to late 30’s, has kids of their own, pays taxes, and isn’t the same person they were when they were in college.

There seem to be a number of people in their 20s on here still, just not many college students. I'd imagine the people who started posting here in the early days are mostly mid/late 30s now.

TD didn't exist when I was at LSU. I discovered it looking for a place to vent about Les Miles' offense around 2009
