We play touch football at work. There is another gear I remember I used to be able to get running that I can't get anymore. Also my spin move and juking sucks now, I'm 33. I would say 29-30 I started to tell a difference. I eat good overall and stay very active but other than touch football don't really exercise or anything. When I say active, I mean at both jobs, hunting, playing with kids.

Yeah, but I've got to make a concentrated effort

I've just had some bad turnovers lately and my game feels out of sync. I've also noticed I'm getting a little pudge hanging over my belt

I found my game changes but was more effective until about 37 then I just couldn't chase 20 year olds around anymore. I played an over 40 game tonight (soccer) and think I broke a hip

What's there to look forward to after 30?

I've had to find a little less risky sports to feed that outlet...bowling, golf, etc.

I just couldn't risk tearing a knee, or worse, mid-30's.

When I realized I was white, average height, and too skinny. Figured I should just stick to using my brain.

Played a game of rugby at 41 and pulled a hammy, broke an ankle and nearly broke my neck. I did deadlift and squat 505 LBS for 5 that same year, so I guess I was still strong but not nearly as quick, fast or able to recover quickly.

EDIT to say: the delusional "dangers" of getting old and tolerance to whisky make one feel that he can “compete” on a competitive level

Well I can tell you now that after age 50 I don't even jump off the tailgate of my truck to ground anymore as I may blow something out. Aging can be brutal.

I have actually stopped doing that as well...guess I need to get a "man step" for my truck...

Around 30.

Just played a pickup game a few weeks ago and realized I was the fundamentally sound old man who boxes out, plays help defense, and does all the little things that makes me the annoying old man on the court.

Never. I'm a disc golfer. 43 and I still know that if I really dedicate myself, I can compete at a high level. But, I never do.

In regular golf, I could see being optimistic for many years. Tom Watson came within one stroke of winning the British Open at the age of 59. That gives hope to a lot of people, even disc golfers. Shoot straight enough and hit the putts, and you can win any tournament.

Man, I hope that day never comes

It stinks.
Run, swim, bike, but it's not as good as basketball.

I still shoot by myself sometimes, it's sad.

When we play football I'm trying to teach correct throwing techniques, catch with hands, and rotating your hips during coverage all the while being the worst player on the field.

27 and still feel as skilled and agile as I have ever been. My stamina isn't what it was but that's because I don't train like I did as a high school athlete. I haven't played basketball in a while though. Probably over a year. But I play beach volleyball multiple times a week..

I'm sure my time is coming soon.

32. I played strong safety in high school, above average athlete in any sport my whole life, competed in bodybuilding from 22 to 35. Played a tackle football game with a bunch of 22-24 yr old guys from the gym. Just didn't have the cutting ability anymore. Lost a couple steps. And I was sore the next day BAD

Bout 33 when I coached my oldest son's 10 year old baseball team. Took 30 mins to warm up to pitch batting practice and 3 days to recover after doing it.

I delegated assistant coaches pitching duties the following practices

Basketball realization came about 37. Switched to soccer and still playing in 3 leagues. Still play some basketball every few weeks but not close to what I was, except in shooting.
