If you are watching Big Brother this season, you know they have a little guy on there.
Well, the other day the black girl on there called him a midget to his face. He lit into her, saying her calling him a midget is like him calling her the nagging word (and he dropped the N word, he didn't sensor it).

I always knew midget wasn't PC, but it's now offensive? To me, midget described little people with certain features, large body, small limbs, etc.

A dwarf is someone with all features equally proportioned, but just small.

I know the Nword is VERY offensive for obvious reasons, but how is midget offensive, not just politically incorrect?

Just starting some mid day banter (drug induced).

I just assume that a reference to any type of person is offensive now.

I have gotten the impression it has always been offensive to midgets but until now no one cared.

Yes, a friend I went to HS with is really short (he might be 3'9ish).. If he goes in public places, from time to time, there will be someone that says loud "look at that midget!". Nothing else bothered him, but the midget thing pissed him off. I get it.

I hate when people use the word "crippled". It's the perception of the words that people have problems with.

If he doesn't care for it or if they think it's offensive, what's the issue? He set her arse straight using her own logic. That's the headline.

Zah says it's not offensive, and he's the king of the midgets

It’s been considered offensive for several years.

I can see that, crippled is a verb, not a noun.

That accident crippled him.

You good with it used this way?

What about when used with “wrestling”. Midget wrestling makes it ok right?

100% agree. Crippled infers weakness and a need for assistance. I prefer to use the more accepted term “cripple”. Although even that, one day in the future, won’t be acceptable. It’s hard to keep up.

Would you use the Nword next to wrestling?

Or the R word?

Little person is the preferred term now, but eventually that will become offensive. They’ll change the preferred term until that becomes offensive.......it’s an endless cycle.
