I’d say 2013 around the time of Trayvon Martin.

Last few years of lame duck Obama were not great and laid the groundwork, but I feel like they were still turning up the temperature and hoping most would not notice how radical he was. They played the race card if you disagreed with Obama, but it was also easier to stay out of conversations.

November 2016 election ruined plans to have 12 to maybe 16 years in a row of appointees including judges and Supreme Court justices, illegal immigration, and vetoing anything passed by a Republican congress and issuing executive orders which would not be challenged and ruled on like with Trump.

The Dems reaction to losing the Nov 2016 election including plans to regain White House, rhetoric, intimidation through antifada or canceling, biased Big Tech moderation, and media dropping all pretensions of being objective and so on started current huge division of country.

That’s when they went full antifada and fighting “Nazis” and obstruction. The press would report on every negative rumor about Trump and then doubled or maybe tripled down on Kavanaugh because he was replacing their swing vote. You had to hate Trump and couldn’t be neutral or even avoid answering or you might get canceled which was greatly expanded with summer of love. Social media moderation swung obviously to be biased to the left after they blamed themselves for not doing this enough before the 2016 election.

That election freaked their heads up so much they went full bore left with Biden’s autopen and social media censorship in an attempt to not just erase Trump but do in those 4 years what they expected to do with 8 years under Hillary.

Social media. Obama dumped gas on the fire with Ferguson and it’s been downhill since.

You can also add the Florida lost ballots and "hanging chads" conspiracy in 2000 that divided the country

Dems really thought Hilldawg was going to coast. That swing from 2012-2016 was incredible especially in the midwest/rust belt. DNC undermined how angry working class folks were from Bush/Obama

It’s time we passed some sort of legislation. We had laws passed because of the 2 Live Crew rapping about sex. This is much more serious and an obvious problem.

I don't know if society went to shite, but the world certainly changed for the worse in 2020 with the confluence of the pandemic, lockdowns, social media, and social unrest.

Beginnings - When talk radio became so conservative. When Fox news started and gave us an alternative view of the news. Back in the 80s when computers and video games started to take over our youth. Tv going from 4 channels to infinity. The 60s generation now running things.

To Today - The Internet. All our kids on meds. Obama rhetoric. Trump rhetoric. Social Media. Significant number of guns in circulation.

This is just my lifetime.

What'd I leave out?

Early 90’s it began. Smart computers, internet, cell phones and then social media. The era of instant gratification began and killed so much of the culture that we loved. That’s why people cling to the 80’s and previous decades. If I could go back and live the last 35 years without the internet and cell phones I’d go in a heartbeat.

Nope, it started with LBJ and his
"Great Society" after he and others helped get rid of JFK.....

Here is what this ginormous vagina got started:
*Civil Rights: The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
*Healthcare: The creation of *Medicare and Medicaid in 1965 to provide health insurance for the elderly and low-income individuals.
*Poverty: The "War on Poverty," which included the creation of the Economic *Opportunity Act of 1964. This led to programs like Head Start and Job Corps.
*Education: The Elementary and *Secondary Education Act of 1965, which provided federal funding to public schools.
*Environment: A series of environmental protection laws

I think there is just a lot of delusion going on here
This is pure comedy gold from the million post man of the forum century SloAutistPro. I'm the least delusional person you'll ever meet.
quote:

because that's arguably the peak of society.
Peak? Eh, that's your antecdotal experience coupled with your Obama fanboy syndrome setting in to say peak. In 2013 millions of people still had their lives wrecked from the financial crisis and subsequent bailouts, including myself (just coming out of college), and several friends and family members. Otherwise, there just wasn't a whole lot going on: Socialism was the hot new thing and looked to be on the up and up, stomp clap hey music was the scene (I know your arse hated to see that go), and the first black (half) president had just been voted back in and was cruising, and as we all know, when leftists are having it their way there's no chaos (other than every one who's not a socialist eating shite sandwiches).

But that's not the context of the question, now is it Rain Man? He asked when it began. You don't have the benefit of hindsight before having hindsight.
quote:

Things have gotten worse from there, but we're still WAY better than most periods since the mid-60s.
I won't disagree, though, nothing has come close since then - nothing. We all just watched a beloved-by-millions Republican get his neck ripped in half by a leftist retard (they are synonymous), barely a year after the now-president escaped two assassination attempts. Objectively, things are not great.

For you, of all people, to call other people, "delusional" who rightly say that society has gone to shite because it still isn't as bad as another time period is retarded: Like yeah, of course having butthole cancer is not as bad as having dickhole cancer, but not having cancer at all is really nice too, and it doesn't make someone delusional to say so.
quote:

Additionally, social media REALLY ramped up in that era as Gen Z started hitting their teens.
Yeah. I addressed that. It's part of the reason why it's been downhill since then. An 8 year old gen z'er in 2013 (or any 8 year old in any year) thinks democrat policies sound like great ideas, and here we are today.
quote:

So are things worse than 2013-ish?
Again, that's not what was asked. Now let's see your 32 page thesis on how you will explain that you're right, and even the original poster is wrong and he didn't mean to ask the question he did.
quote:

Yes, but 2013-ish is basically peak US
Again, not what was asked, but it's also unadulterated bullshite. If any year was peak US, it was the year 2000, or the day before 9/11, and even that's debatable. Just because you got your first blow job in 2013 doesn't mean it was peak America. That's subjective bullshite.

Less than 5 years from the worst financial crisis in half a century and this kid is calling it, "peak America." You are a small, strange man.

9/11 gave US Presidents too much power. Before they were given the power they have now, they had to work to get the House and the Senate to pass bills. Now they just get an aid to turn on the auto-pin, and hope the, now way too political, Supreme Court goes along.

It's not supposed to work like this.
