Sounds like you were more disgusted by the people rather than the dog.

I mean, the people on this thread have been to NOLA right? I have actually seen a rat run through Antoine's, but we are worried about Karen's cockapoo? Seriously?

There are much nastier things at the grocery store and the back areas of restaurants than the dog sitting next to you, minding his own business, being better behaved than your own kid.

I have a friend that brings her dog shopping with her. Puts it in a cart. No one tells her anything so she keeps doing it.

Nah like I said earlier I’m dog friendly but inside a restaurant especially a buffet is a bridge too far.

Yeah, like a golden retriever would do anything but lick a person to death. Best dogs ever, BTW.

PSA: Shades has 10% off the whole month of February if you bring your dog in the store with you.

im kind of with the muslims on this one

way too many dogs. dogs don't belong in cities. if you have to take your dog on a walk to go to the bathroom, you shouldn't have a dog

See your problem.

For the record, I do not bring mine inside any establishment. I do not mind a well behaved, clean dog anywhere though. I am just amused at how people get bent out of shape by it.

I wasn't always this way. Years of living in SLC and then having a summer home in Croatia changed me. Dogs everywhere in both of those places. I do not mind anymore. I actually prefer them to many modern children.

The acceptance of dogs in public places has grown incredibly during my life.

Same. My stepdad always had hunting dogs and was a tough old SOB. He would have never dreamed of a dog in the house.

Years later my mom got 2 Boston Terriers, and he fell in love with them. When I would go visit, it was a strange sight to see him on the couch with house dogs all snuggled up with him.

I'm good, I've been all over, thanks though and keep your dog out of eating establishments out of respect of others.

To your rat point, I don't want the f'in rat in the restaurant either, but nobody willingly walked the rat in.

I agree on the kids, keep your noisy screaming kid with the dog at home.

What is wrong with dogs. When i was a kid is aw dogs all over the place. the issue was they were running wild. Now people have them on leashes, what's the big deal.

Are you muslim?

Exactly. I knew she was full of shite. Just one of these people who made her dog a service dog just because and insist on bringing it everywhere because she’s a self righteous bitch.

Lucky the dog didn’t end up beef and broccoli.

It started with people bringing their "purse" dogs with them to the grocery store, the mall, etc. These dogs were usually docile, thus well-behaved, and used as a bit of a status symbol (ie: "I'm important enough to get away with this"). I never saw this prior to around the mid-90s.

As with many things, it grew in popularity and that growth meant expansion into larger dogs with them also being less docile.

Couldn’t agree more! This seems to be another area that society is completely polarized…..you have one book end that calls their dog a “fur baby” and think they are humans with no limits on where they should go. And the other end that think their dog is just an animal. I am in the second camp and don’t really want to see or smell your dog in the grocery store, sitting with you at the table next to me in a restaurant, or coming out of a hotel room! It is not a human no matter how bad you want it to be.
