When did father/daughter dances and mother/son dances start?

I have two boys so I’m in the clear but I don’t know when this started. Seems like in the last 10 years is at every private school now

We never had that growing up in the 90s.

Yeah at least 10 years ago. They have gotten really big now with dress up themes and stuff at a lot of schools.
When I used to take my daughter we always went to dinner with a large group before.

My sisters had them dad in the 60's and 70's. Didn't ever have a mom son deal though.

Went to my first daddy daughter dance last Night. It was great. Brought my little lady a dress and had her a corsage.

My daughter is 21 (no pics you filthy animals) and they didn't have those dances when she was little.

So how long do these things last and how many songs do they play? Do you only dance with your daughter or do they switch up? The more I think about it the creepier it sounds.

We grew up in the 90s, I remember my dad taking my sister to one when we were younger. Daddy/Daughter dance on base. So 20+ years is a solid start

It's not bad at all. They gym or whatever is all fixed up. They have a dj and all the lights and stuff. The girls generally all dance with and run around with their friends. The dads stand around and talk. They may play one or two slow songs for daddy and daughter to dance to.
It's just special that you and her dress up nice and get an evening out. Giving her a flower is a nice touch as well.
