This is different. There is an emotional bond that is built for many years, and for some people, you can't put a price tag on that, especially when you factor in joy, fulfillment, trust, and bonding.
Binding with a shelter dog is literally the exact same as binding with a designer dog. I say this as someone that grew up with shelter dogs as a kid and now have two labradoodles due to children’s allergy requirements.
The binding is the same.

Unfortunately not as much anymore. The non-pitts get scooped up by rescue groups and they ask for 30 pages of questionnaire and at least 500 dollars.
And the rescue groups are run by completely unhinged people, even moreso than the breeders. The hoops and stuff they want you to jump through to get a pound dog are ridiculous.

I gladly paid what I paid for the dog that lives with me now. Extensively trained as a pup, is very calm, well socialized and doesn't shed.

these are not only 280 pound 60 year old Karens, but they are 280 pound 60 year old Karens who murdered their husbands so they could travel around the country to dog shows

The worst of them all is the ones that are breeding the Merle and tri color dogs. Those are really good looking dogs but they charge way to much for them and they have so many issues with them. Most Merle or tri color dogs have a 5 -6 year life expectancy.

And what kind of retards pay 2k - 3k for these little dogs?
He is awesome though. Holds AKC therapy dog certifications and AKC tracking certifications. An angel at hospices centers and special needs schools and a stud at the deer camp.

I saw someone with a Doberman yesterday and thought, I’d like to have one of those. Seems like a large dog that’s not oversized and obedient. I can’t stand a big arse dog that wants to jump on everyone.
I’d pay good money for an animal.

My sister is the kind.
Having said that...we love that little dog.

As more and more people choose to do their part in the hastening the collapse of American society by not having children and instead getting some damned dog(s), the demand for dogs naturally increases, thus making the price of damned dogs go up.

Some Dobie's can get fairly big, over 100 lbs. It's genetics, but it's also because many people don't truly know how much (or how little) to feed their dog.
Mine will most likely top out around 70 lbs. She's lean, and muscular. They are great dogs. Very loyal, obedient, and "attached" i.e., velcro dogs. I'll never own another breed.
