Viet nam being a pointless war isn’t really debatable. What did it accomplish other than death on both sides?
Have you not herd of LBJ and the military industrial complex?

Were we facing Jesus when we brought over slaves and fought the Civil War?

Around 1985 when David Lee Roth left Van Halen and hip hop started becoming mainstream. Beginning of the end.

When women were allowed to vote

NAFTA and the importation of 10s of millions of uneducated immigrants of color.
Radicalized the left by making identity politics possible. The left very quickly realized they had a whole new voting bloc. All they had to say was "you have to vote for us to protect you from the racists".
Completely changed the Democrats from a party of Ivy league coastal snobs (who never the less wanted to maintain the basic status quo) to radical woke race warriors who want to tear the best status quo on the planet down.
It's how this country went from "let's celebrate our differences and try to get along" to let's hate the other by obsessing over priviledge, reparations, colonial mindsets etc.
All of our problems were manageable until the woke came from out the woodwork to sow division and uncontrolled immigration is the reason they were able to do so.

What do you mean by that?
Passed by Congress June 4, 1919, and ratified on August 18, 1920, the 19th amendment granted women the right to vote. The 19th amendment legally guarantees American women the right to vote.
From this has come all the soft liberal social policies, based on feelings, that have decimated the country.

America's decline is largely a myth pushed by Russian and Chinese propaganda mills.

My question is, was the 50s an aberration?
Yes. About 55-65 was the most prosperous 10 years in world history for a single country. And once the rest of the world recovered from WW2, we’ve spent the last 50odd years propping up bubble after bubble and taking on 30 trillion in debt trying to keep the party going.
