This fellow was supposed to deliver us a colder winter. Hope he shows up.

He will. Always does.

The key us that extra pacific warmth makes for a secondarily strong temperature gradient across the subtropics.

The jet stream, blah blahing over some details, is a response to this gradient. So in an El Nino you get a very active southern jet stream.

The jet plays a role in creating lift and storms, again blah blahing a lot of details.

The El Nino will being that jet over the SE way more often bringing wet weather, and therefore cooler temperatures than normal overall.

The humidity this week is like the inside of sweaty butt cheeks.

Sorry, but what's to like about 49 degrees? That's an awful temperature.

ETA: Timely topic...my older neighbor down the hall has been slowly moving stuff out of their apt the last few days. I saw him in the hall today and asked where they were going. "Denver, we're done with the heat"

My first summer here and I've loved the weather

At this point in the southern change of seasons, I've abandoned all hope of cooler weather until Halloween.

Looks like my baw AwgustaDawg is about to close out a Summer where every single month was below Normal. Augusta, GA had a decent Summer. You folks who suffered under the dome for months need to hold him accountable for the weather appropriation he's trying to pull with your heat wave.

And if I hear another person in north AL whine about how hot it was in our area and how they don't remember it being hotter I may catch a charge.

It's going to start feeling a lot different come this weekend. Dew point will be dropping into the low 60s. The air won't feel like you can drink it anymore

I bet when it does get cold, everyone will claim it's never been this cold.

Need the cold to work down into the mountain west and plains a little more.

We're talking Nov/Dec before this really starts to play a role.
