When are our leaders going to rename Lee Drive?

That is the responsibility of the city, not the school system
There is a committee that is working on it, if you think they are going to move quickly & not get their fair share of catered lunches you are mistaken

How many streets do we have in the parish that are named after civil war generals, civil war battles, civil war names, slave holders, and other “unwelcoming” people or places?
And what’s the legal procedure for changing a street name? Subdivision name? And perhaps a city?

Once the studies, and the studies on the studies, and the private consultant firm finishes their study, then when the study of the study of the private firms study, and the community study group is formed, and the community suggestions have been narrowed down from the community study group, and after the meetings to discuss all the afore mentioned studies. Only then will they be able to start having discussions on the studies. Then after those discussions, there will be petitions, and meetings to discuss the petitions , and studies will be made of the petition discussions. From there they will move on to having a dialogue with different groups from all areas of the city, who will then submit their suggestions which will be studied, and discussed. Plans will be made, reviews will be done, debates will be had, voices will be heard, and a new study will be started to layout the plan going forward as to the renaming of the street. The plan will be reviewed, discussed, meticulously analyzed, modified and implemented in multiple phases. Each phase of the plan will be studied and reviewed. The name will end up not being changed, and we will start the entire process again in a few years.

I’m sure if certain neighborhoods didn’t want a name change they could retain a lawyer & hold up the process

EBR Petition to change street name
I read an article soon after someone figured out that Shenandoah subdivision and most of the streets had "negative" connotations, that outlined the process to change street names.
Getting the majority of the property owners to agree, I don't really see that happening but nothing surprises me any longer.

Will all the businesses that have to change their advertising, business cards, letterhead, etc., get any federal stimulus dollars to help defray the cost?

Sharon Weston Broom announced a few weeks ago she's starting a task force to rename streets named after Confederates. I told my wife that SWB just flushed the Southdowns vote (and the rest of 70808) down the proverbial toilet.

I would be one of the ones at the metro council meeting with a lawyer if I had a business on a street being changed
It’s going to cost those businesses money in an already shitty business climate
With a small business that just had an address change I can’t tell you how big of a PITA it is to get the change done with both vendors & customers
SWB is going to destroy BR, no one has a lick of common sense & can see that this will drive business out of the city

It should be College Drive all the way to the River. Dumb that the street changes names twice in a couple mile span.

I expect the same thing to happen with Lee Street in Alexandria. I have no clue is it is named after Robert E Lee, but that doesn't matter to the clowns demanding any and everything that may have a link to the war of northern aggression.

Agreed. I don't understand that either. Just make it a long arse street like Highland and call it a day. It's easier that way.
