Bar scene is a lot weaker than you'd think. I feel like most went out in the West 7th area (someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), which is a bit douchey (kind of think this fits you from what you posted).

That's a nice neighborhood on West Berry across from the campus, which is pretty nice. I thought it was cool how accessible the football stadium is since it's not isolated from the rest of the campus. We walked right into the stadium on a weekday to take some photos and nobody was around to hassle us.

Great school, great part of Ft Worth. However, it is very expensive. Better hope for a scholarship in some form

Fort Worth is nice and fun. You'll have a good time there. Sure it's no Oxford, but it's a decent substitute.

It's a great city. Cost of living is on the higher end but absolutely worth it.

One of my favorite cities in the country. Like others have said, conveniences of a big city but with a small town feel. Awesome downtown area as well.

From somebody who travels a lot of Texas, Ft Worth is one of the better towns.

If I had to live in DFW and Plano/Frisco/McKinney wasn't an option, I'd do FW in a heartbeat.

Life long LSU fan from South La. Went to TCU for the med school acceptance rate, great campus, great town, and lots of beautiful women (about 2:1 girls to guys when I was there). I had a great scholarship that made the cost difference negligible between them and LSU with TOPS, but that obviously isn't the case all the time. They do have some of the highest financial assistance rates in the country and third-party scholarships are allowed if not encouraged.

The proof is in the pudding--just about everyone I knew in college is successful and happy.

TCU is an outstanding school with a beautiful campus. Ft. Worth, as others have described, has all of the benefits of a big city, but keeps a small town feel. Ft. Worth is also very diverse; there is a big enough selection of bars/areas of town that anyone can find something that they feel comfortable.

TCU is quite a bit smaller than the other schools you listed. They only accept about 2,000 students into the incoming freshman class every year.

Avoid the Mega Monolith of construction @ 35W, 820, Airport Fwy AT ALL COSTS.

Take the toll road to get to Dallas in less than 20 min. 80mph FTW.

As someone not from TX, I fly out there for business every few years. Never had a bad experiance in the area (although I always get a random bill from NYC because of their toll roads). It is not saturated with poor minorities like the east coast urban areas. Atlanta and DC will make you hate inner cities.

Ft. Worth is great. Vastly superior place to live compared to Dallas.

If you want to see hot women, apply to the two main Arizona universities. Oh my God the talent in that state is remarkable.
