10 year old Yew was a scrub on a 10-12 year old team back in the day. Last game of the season and I had not yet played in the game. I was a backup outfielder. In the last inning the coach put me in at 3rd base and we were up 1. It was 2 out and 2 on when it happened. I nice 2 hopper was hit right at me and it went between my legs to the outfield. We lost the game by 1.

When I got home my mom asked how’d I do. I just said that I lost the game. Not the team, but me. Then I slinked off into my room to replay it many times.

Man thanks for bringing up this trauma….

Down 1 in 11-12 yo league championship. Bunted to get on. Throwing error moved me to 2nd after falling down and tumbling at 1st. Next pitch was a wild pitch, I didn’t move cause I was exhausted and stunned. Just lost in the moment.

Got the steal sign next pitch, got caught. Next guy up hits a fly ball deep in the outfield that was caught to end the game. That was the last league game I ever played. My parents refused to sign me up after that.

I did join my high school team my senior year but, only got to run bases in 1 game. Had no idea what I was doing as I never lead off ever in my life.

One time on the range, I fired a sabot round with HEAT indexed on the fire control.

I’m not entirely sure, but I think there’s a chance that HEAT round may still be in orbit.

4th grade pop warner.

Kickoff receiving team.

Coach Gonzales says;

“If the ball comes near you, don’t touch it”.

I stuck my hand up and it was a turnover. We got slaughtered.

Sports

Missed a block and thought our RB was dead.* Carted off to a waiting ambulance. I totally whiffed. Can't watch that scene in Varsity Blues.

* - he was back on the sidelines after halftime.

Life

Had a really good job summer between my junior and senior year of college. The kind where you make connections and it can set you up early career. The one that your classmates are impressed by.

Was out fraternizing and I got pissed at a bartender and cussed him out. CEO witnessed it. The next morning, my mentor came to my work area and asked for my badge.

I bounced back, but always think of what could have been.

Basketball game. We are up by 2 with 10 seconds left. Other team misses, we grab rebound and I take a long outlet pass racing down the court. Now I have a choice - go in for the layup to go up by four or break off and run out the clock. I whiff the layup, other team grabs rebound, heaves it back down the court, dude catches it and sinks a game winning three, Christain Laetner style.

I choke WAY more at normal life stuff than sports. I honestly can't think of a single major choke moment in sports and I've played through college. I have had a few doh moments coaching though.

In life, I have constant WTF moments, I basically live my life making shite hard for myself then after the fact realizing I could have done it way easier.

Senior year high school soccer in the state semis I got completely burned on a through ball and my guy scored the only goal of the game on a breakaway. Once every few years I'll think about it and it'll bother me. Thanks.

Similar thing happened to me but it was a long throw in I didn’t expect and it was my sophomore year in the quarterfinals. There were quite a few upset seniors that night.

Got burned pretty bad in a club game once that I’ll never forget. It was that night in Atlanta that I learned I wasn’t nearly as good as I thought I was. Turned out the kids burning me were Josh Wolf and Clint Mathis. Had no idea who they were at the time but they ended up playing on the US National team.

When I was 13, I gave up a grand slam to one of my best friends and college roommate who actually posts here.

It fricking sucked. Still mad about it.

Failing to maintain academic eligibility, costing the Cajuns the ‘00, ‘01 and ‘02 SBC outdoor championships.

I was a catcher in Juco, lost a big game overthrowing 3rd on a stolen base, run scored.

Plenty of games throughout career being final out.

Probably had a bigger choke moment, but that throw is the one that stuck.

Handled ball maybe 1500 times without a fumble.

Fumbled in dome on our 12- well muffed not fumble.

3 plays later down 14-0
