4 of the 8 Mayoral candidates are convicted felons.
Detroit News
Half of the eight mayoral hopefuls on Detroit’s primary ballot next week have been convicted of felony crimes involving drugs, assault or weapons, a Detroit News analysis shows.
Three were charged with gun crimes and two for assault with intent to commit murder. Some of the offenses date back decades, the earliest to 1977. The most recent was in 2008.
Under state election law, convicted felons can vote and run for office as long as they are not incarcerated or guilty of certain fraud-related offenses, or crimes involving a breach of the public trust.

I thought Detroit was trending upwards recently as compared with 2008 Great Recession

I think they had a state financial conservator forced on them, who cleaned up the books, but how long can that last? They'll have to turn it back to the thieves, eventually.

Some hipsters have gentrified parts of downtown but drive one mile in any direction and it looks like the Middle East

So they actually represent the demographics of Detroit?

Honestly, it's probably not a bad investment opportunity if you have enough capital (and guns).

That community sees nothing wrong with felonies because laws are racist

Maybe not.
82.6% black and 10.6% white are very hard demographics to reverse. Most of those people aren't leaving their decent suburbs to return to that level of crime and decay. It's happened in a lot of US cities.

Dan Gilbert already beat you

The candidates are a reflection of the voters they are trying to represent.

At least they went ahead and got that felony conviction before they take office,as opposed to during their tenure.

I'm surprised all 4 are black.

Assault with intent to commit murder is a breach of individual trust...So it doesn't count.

So? About 500 members of Congress should be convicted felons.

I think Boomer is in drag.
