Whats worse?

Lets say youre a burglar, you force your way into an unknown home at 2AM, youre feeling your way around when suddenly you hear a shotgun being cocked from somewhere in the darkness.
Would that cause you to shite yourself faster than suddenly having a laser beam pointed at you or vice versa?
It takes some onions, a general disregard for your life, and a fairly large helping of dumbarsery to break into a home at night in my opinion. Especially in the South.

Shotgun is gonna do more damage close range. Especially with buckshot

Let's say you're a helicopter. You fly into an ice cream stand where the guy serving the ice cream is doing "ice cream tricks". When he finally sees you coming, he pulls out a bazooka. What would it take for you to be scared faster than if you did the same but you weren't a helicopter or vice versa?

Don't try and scare someone away by racking your gun or pointing a laser at them. That's just time that you aren't shooting

If you are pumping your shotgun that means you didn't have one in the chamber... bad move.
Shoot first... don't worry about the "shite your pants factor" of making a pumping noise.
The only thing they might hear from my shotgun would be the safety clicking off.
