What’s with this mask stuff?

Hasn’t the Surgeon General, on more than one occasion, advised against the general public wearing masks?
Said it wasn’t effective and could actually lead to more exposure and cases.
So why are some populations getting these orders from governments to wear masks?

Because people are fricking idiots and now only feel safe around people with masks.

A mask blocks coughs and sneezes to a certain degree.
The surgeon general was lying to stop panic buying.
Why does this have to be so complicated? Use some common sense.

Because it's easy to stand up in front of the camera and tell people they need to wear masks, and then leave it up to them to find those masks to wear.
Then you go back to your political and media buddies and pat yourself on the back because you "did something" to appease the hyperventilating Karens, without actually ever doing something.

Nobody knows more than the experts. Except the politicians.
Even though the experts have been wrong this entire time. And the politicians.
12,000 ventilators
200,000 test per month

Same with people wearing one pair of gloves all day without changing them and touching everything.
Insane counter productive nonsense

And what is with cigarettes? They used to be good for you. Come on!

The surgeon general said masks don’t protect you, but protect others from you. By wearing a mask, you prevent the spread of your germs. It does not protect you from others.

I don't even know anymore. I've just started coughing really loud in public places to keep people away.

It’s the cool thing to do during this “pandemic”.

Uh, not according to the media, most politicians, and every single Karen in existence at the moment.

Can't germs get out through the air holes? Wouldn't the mask need to be air/water tight to be truly effective? When I have to use a nasty smelling public restroom and I cover my face with my shirt while I'm pissing I can still smell that shite. Something is getting through.

I understand the importance of masks in some situations.
Then there’s the TV reporters doing a remote broadcast where no one else is in view of the camera and they are wearing masks.
No different than the Weather Channel reporters leaning into a breeze or Anderson Cooper standing waist deep in a ditch reporting on flood waters.
Just for the dramatics and to instill fear

This is the entire point. The fact remains 99% of the population has no reason to fear this virus.

You mind linking that?
I haven’t seen those comments.
Last comments I watched him make, he said masks were not advisable for the public.
Leads to false sense of well being and more touching of the face.
