I know coonasses can be a little crazy, but this is getting a little out of hand. I just read where the Opelousas chief of police was caught by his wife having an affair with one of his officers and the mistress ends up shooting both the chief and his wife and he's now refusing to step down.

This is getting embarrassing! What is in the water in these small towns that LE officials are losing their damn minds. First, you have Barney Fife in Youngsville acting like a complete idiot and just when things appeared to be calming down, now we have Goober Pyle in Opelousas screwing around with a subordinate and ends up getting he and his wife shot!

I need to make a call and see if Dateline's Chris Hansen can take a break from chasing child molesters and come down and investigate every small town police department in South Louisiana! Based on what is happening in the news, NBC may want to see if Troy Landry has any long-term rental houses available because he's going to be down here awhile!

High testosterone coonasses and voluminous amounts of alcohol/confiscated cocaine are the issue.

In our day and time, with privacy becoming increasingly rare, plus people who want their fifteen minutes, it's becoming difficult to hide things like these. It has been happening since time immemorial but now, it's too difficult to keep concealed.

Every time I see that across the back of a truck windshield I can't help but roll my eyes. I live in a small town, I know what goes on. Folks like to think they're all like Mayberry but in reality most are more like Ferriday.

Seems like there are corrupt police all over the country, not just in LA

Small towns and unchecked power is the reason

???
Occasionally a Sheriff somewhere might wade into a little controversy, but they are too powerful to actually get caught, unless the Feds want to spend a considerable amount of time and resources trying to catch them.

Louisiana politics in general (and really everywhere) only allows for two characteristics of politicians. Inept and corrupt. Hopefully whoever is in charge is only one or the other. Currently in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, that isn't the case. They're both corrupt and inept.

The best the average person can hope for is simply corrupt. At least that way something positive may happen by accident.

None of which fit the definition of "coonass."

In a nutshell, it’s Louisiana and there’s no accountability and nothing is taken seriously.

It’s all slap on the wrist and brother in law treatment.

A little bit of power.
Barney Fife complex.
Add
Small town into the mix.

You have a dangerous mixture.
