What's up with Community Coffee's Inflated Prices?

The big bag on all their coffee across the board jumped from $15 to $19 at Walmart and other grocery stores. Is this a tariffs issue? I thought they sourced their product in the US. Might have to change to something else but Folgers taste like arse.

Your wife must love Folgers.

Coffee in the US comes almost exclusively from Latin America. The only state with a climate that can even grow it is Hawaii. So yes, tarrifs, or at least they're taking advantage of the tarrif situation and using it as cover to raise prices, like during covid.

Just wait until West Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge get into a tariff war for goods crossing the Mississippi River to pay themselves back from their assistance to Livingston in the Ascension/Livingston War.
Once we stop the influx of meth and its users from Tangi, Ascension will be victorious!

Community screwed up when they discontinued their private reserve. Their red bag stuff is average at best.
I switched to Folgers Black Silk.

Fun fact...All Folgers Coffee is roasted right off of I-10 in New Orleans East just north of the highrise.
That is about the most fragrant part of driving through the city as some days you can get a nice whiff of freshly roasted coffee instead of a French Quarter sewer.

That's just Trumpflation, no big deal.

The only state that grows coffee is Hawaii, and very little of it.
All other coffee in the world come from central/South America, Africa or Asia.
Commodity coffee prices have almost doubled in the last year - before tariffs even became a thing.
All coffee is gonna be way more expensive in the coming months/years.

Coffee prices, in general, have been rising over the last few years due to rain/lack of in some of the few places that grow it...
Don't let tariffs be the answer for this one, its been rising in the specialty scene because the smaller farms saw it first

Now is ah excellent time for the few producers in Hawaii to ramp up production. They could become a coffee powerhouse. Hell get the feds involved. Get some big funding pumped into it.

I thought Community Coffee was higher priced here in Georgia because the local stores were just trying to gouge us LSU folks out of jealousy. Didn't realize it was hitting higher prices on the home front also too.

Unfortunately we will probably see a lot of this happening as companies do what companies do and let greed lead the way.

Last bag of community coffee I got was kinda gross. Ended up putting it in the back of the pantry as a last resort.

When cost of goods (cogs) goes up (thank u, tariffs), smart companies rocket up prices ahead of gross margin bleed. And then parachute down if/when cogs goes down.
I am an avid CC drinker. I am also typing this while drinking Folgers.
Tariffs will kill CC gross margin by COGS and lower volume.
I am told Trump has a degree in Economics, too.

I'd second the Cafe Bustelo, very reasonably priced and has a bolder taste than Community. Drink that at work. Grounds & Hounds makes some good blends, as well. I'm a dog guy, and they apparently contribute a portion of proceeds animal rescue. Or they're buying luxury cars on overpriced coffee. I dunno.
