What’s up with all the crap in the road?

Especially on the stretch of I-10 between Lake Charles and Beaumont. It’s a daily occurrence to see giant pieces of 18 wheeler tire, pieces of bumper, and miscellaneous construction supplies. Since Laura I’ve seen enough ladders on the interstate to outfit my own Mexican roofing squad. I ran over of all things a fricking milk crate and ripped the skid plate halfway off my truck a couple of years ago. Not long after that I saw a Baw in a F-250 dead center a giant box in the middle of I-10 between Sulphur and Vinton. Luckily it was insulation. shite exploded, look like it was snowing pink
Besides the perpetrator that lost the shite who’s responsible for getting this crap off the roadways?
End of rant.

End of rant.

The question shouldn't be who is responsible for removing trash, it should be why do people leave their trash on the road. I have no scientific proof, but people in Louisiana trash their state more than any other and either don't care or expect someone else to pick it up. I wonder if anyone has ever been ticketed for littering in this state.

It’s not the random beer can or dirty diaper on the side of the road. This is big shite that will mess up your vehicle. Of course Louisiana has way more litter but I’ve noticed just as much of this large debris on the Texas side of the line. It’s actually very dangerous.

There was an entire plastic truck bed liner in the entrance lane of I-12 and Airline 2 days ago. Smack in the middle of the road.
But yeah...Louisiana roads are the dirtiest of anywhere I believe.

Simple. They didn’t slap it three times and say “that ain’t going anywhere”. Damn shame.

It's a vicious cycle. You run over a pot hole so deep your fender falls off. Then the next guy comes along and hits your fender and his bumper falls off. Rinse, repeat.

Go to Arizona or New Mexico. I-40 looks like the entrance to the Port Hudson Landfill in the north end of the Parish.

The dirtiest road is from Vinton to Vidor. Always under construction and crap everywhere.

It’s the Mardi Gras Effect. When you grow up ingrained that success is measured by how much trash everyone left behind on the streets, it just becomes part of your being.
It’s the one thing I truly hate about South Louisiana. Love so much else, but trash people living in trash just pisses me off.

It’s easily solvable using prison labor regularly.

Another example of lack of personal responsibility. Make it someone else’s problem.

Myth.
Prison labor is not readily available, is major security risk, and is not cheap (A lot of tax payer dollars go into transporting, securing site and paying guards overtime.)
Also, you can't just drop prisoners anywhere (Some communities will not allow it) and there is a major issue with runaway attempts as well as easy options for getting contraband back into the prison. When people get wind of a crew on the interstate they plant contraband to be smuggled back in, sometimes even weapons.
That being said, 1-2 days after a crew clears a location it looks like nothing was done.

Our interstates are war zones. War zones have shrapnel. Proceed with caution.

Louisiana’s attitude to its own state personified.

DOTD is 'supposed to' have a maintenance crew to go out daily and pick up that crap.
La. DOTD District 7 covers the Lake Chuck area , call
1-877-4LA-DOTD (452-3683) for trash pickup along I-10.

Just as bad after you cross into Texas as it was in La. We just drove it and he is right, it was horrible.
