Mouton just posted a thread on the MSB that was meant for FDB and was praising Bell's (king of the microwbrewers in Michigan) Hopslam. This shite is almost undrinkable. It has the flavor of Sierra Nevada with 5,000x bitterness. Even if you're a bitter beer guy, I think people are only drinking it to be hipster cool.

Beeradvocate reviewers (total of over 10,000 people)gave Hopslam a 99/100 score on average. Maybe you just got a bad one or don't like IPAs. I've had two of them, and it was one of the best DIPA's that I've ever had. I didn't find it too bitter. It was very balanced.

i buy it if it's on sale. nothing wrong with it. nothing special either.

i mean, if you don't like IPA, then you won't like Sweetwater IPA.

There are certainly worse ones, like Abita's.

This shite was horrid. I will drink almost anything you put in front of me from a keystone light to a $15 a bottle craft beer. I like some, and others are just drinkable. But this LA31 Smoked Wheat Ale was difficult to swallow. I'm serious in that I almost had to spit it out. I've never not finished a bottle due to taste except for this beer. I may not get it again, but I'll usually finish it.

Must be a regional thing but I don't understand all the hate for tomato beers in this thread. Up here a lot of people drink tomato juice in their beer, especially in the fall and winter.

Also saw some hate for some Leinie's beers, Summer Shandy and Sunset Wheat. Summer Shandy is just rolling out in stores here now in a limited release pre-summer and people are tripping over themselves to stock up on that stuff. Summer Shandy is very popular in the upper midwest.

To answer the OP, Glueck's Golden Light is the only beer I have never been able to drink, and I'll drink about anything. Bought a case of it because I had a Glueck's Lager while at a Twins game a few years ago, thought the Light version would be good. Glueck's has a brewpub in downtown Minneapolis so I was thinking this is gonna be some good stuff. It was awful, so bad I could not give it away. That partial case took up fridge space for almost two years (because you can't throw beer away) until my wife took the initiative and threw it out.

Also it usually sells out in a matter of hours each year.

Tin Roof. Had some at a tasting at their brewery and it was just garbage. Still can't believe they charge around $8-$9 for a six pack of cans.

All of the tin roof and LA 31 beers I tried have been garbage. Add corona to the list too.

This brewery has free beer and tours every Friday for an hour. I went a couple weeks ago and had a real good time.

Back in my days of bowling in Hammond, there used to be a guy from Chicago that would pour bloody marry mix into his bud light pitchers. I had no idea how he drank that shite, then i heard they started doing the tomato juice buds and wanted to vomit.

Actual Michaleda's are delicious. I only order them when I'm in Houston though. I've found Mexican restaurants in Louisiana have no clue what they're doing.

Some dark beer with dark chocolate that my brother found at World Market. I stopped after one sip but he drank all of his and the rest of mine. Just because it has chocolate doesn't always make things better.

The old Dixie was actually a pretty unique tasting beer because it was aged in their old cypress barrels, which gave it a rather distinctive flavor profile. I kind of liked it, but the thing was, they were prone to putting out a skunky lot every now and then. If you got one of those, it was awful.

It's borderline criminal what the owners let happen to the brewery after Katrina. I always thought they could have really capitalized on that and used it as an opportunity to update the brewery and their product. I guess maybe that's easier for me to say, though.
