If I was down there by myself, sometimes after breakfast I would go play $20-$40 and drink a few complimentary beers about 11 am before heading back to the camp.

That actually sounds like a good time

It's where you go when you've given up on life or when you just dont want to be found

I used the bathroom at one Sunday on the way back from Fayetteville. The kids and gf all said I smelled like smoke when I got in the car. That shite permeates the entire store/restauarnt/etc from the closed off casino area.

Trash meets depression meets semi-poverty meets drugs.

One of my cousins use to work at one for several months. She worked the night shift. She wanted a 2nd job in order to save up for something, it wasn't a job she needed.. She said she quit the job because it just felt like complete desperation.

She said the beginning of the month was worse. People would go in and in 20 mins pretty much lose it all... She said she could never figure out how some people didn't have a pot to piss in, but always had money to gamble and buy cigarettes.

And there were always the husbands or wives who would go in late night.. To play. People who were probably trying to hide it from their spouse. Those were mostly "well to-do" types. And on her estimate 99% of the people who say they "won", it just means they hit and it was just more money to allow them to keep playing until it was all gone..

True story. I snorted meth in the bathroom of a truck stop casino.

Call it a low point.

Theres a bunch of them in Oklahoma. Usually the poor gambling away their welfare and truckers looking to get out of the truck for an evening. A lot of the ones in places like Illinois are just slot machines.

My personal favorite is the Wild West T.S. & Casino in Vegas - has a sports book and is a couple of blocks off the strip. I took $1500 of them by betting the Astros before spring training in 2017.

I pulled off once for gas at the exit right across the bridge from Baton Rouge. I will never do that again.
