Follow Spankum's advice, but key him know it comes from you and Mom. Don't fill him with fairy tales. Just reward him for a milestone, and it will be you building a bond with your kid.

We don't believe in teaching our children witchcraft, and don't let our children associate with kids who grow up believing in the promotion of Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy as substitutes for following the Word of Christ.

We give the kids $2 bills. Just the right amount of money, and a little special because it's different and rare.

Ours usually get dollar coins, but sometimes get a $2 bill if the tooth fairy can find them. The kids call it their "special money", and it's saved every time they empty their piggy banks for something.

Wait, what? Only one entity in your post 'did' witchcraft type things, and that's the one you're promoting.

Mine just lost his first tooth and I gave him $5. I was told by his mother to give him a $20 since it was his first tooth. I told her she's out of her mind. I used to get a quarter.

The ones in here giving a 20 dollar bill are faking OT ballers or plain stupid spoilers.

$20 isn't all that much money anymore. Personally, i'd go $5 or $10 if it was my kid, but it's not like $20 is all that outrageous. Have you priced out crappy kid toys lately? They ain't getting anything with a quarter.

I tell them there is usually a 2 to 3 day waiting period before they receive money. Due to budget cuts the tooth fairy had to make some layoffs. Thus increasing the amount of time it takes to get to houses.

This all of course I usually don't carry around cash and when I do its usually a 20 or higher

I used to get $5 as a kid. I lost a tooth last week and all I had under my pillow was a used syringe and half eaten burrito.
