I remember when I was in in HS, an old woman freaked out on me when I said that her food would be 4 dollars. She threw a nickel at me and told me that was more than enough in her day and stormed off. Her son came back a minute later to pay for her saying she was raised in the depression and she doesn't nt quite get inflation.

Why even give money, or create the idea of a tooth fairy? My folks never made me believe in that, Santa, the Easter Bunny, etc., It makes no sense to me.

You don't understand it because you never experienced it as a kid and you never will.

It may not last but believing in those things can be pretty awesome to a kid. Kids are innocent, naive and easily impressionable. When you tell them about Santa, Easter bunny, and the tooth fairy, they get wondrous and have a pretty good time reacting to what they believe to be things left from them in the morning. It's just not the same and as awe inspiring when they know it's from their parents.

IMO, it does a pretty good job of adding onto and improving the quality of childhood and I will likely do the same with my kids one day if I have any.

My father started talking to me like an adult as soon as I could speak coherently. I'm grateful for that, but I can appreciate making life a little magical for young kids. The old man is just a no bullshite kind of guy.

I always gave whatever change I had in my pocket, usually right under a buck. But I'm not a huge fan of these traditions or children in general, so take that for what it's worth.

I got a silver dollar the night before my first holy communion. The rest of the time 2 quarters.

The ones in here giving a 20 dollar bill are faking OT ballers or plain stupid spoilers.

I would have left a note taped to the kids headboard...

Dear darling kid,

Tooth fairy needs some change back from this.I was too busy flying around to get to the bank in fairy land today. Please give $45 to mommy.

Love,

tooth fairy

We give the kids $2 bills. Just the right amount of money, and a little special because it's different and rare.

5 for a bottom tooth, 10 for a top; at least that's what our son told us. I guess that information get spread freely on the playground.

I’ll never forget telling my dad that the Tooth Fairy forgot to bring me money, then watch him crudely try to “search for the money” under the pillow and dropping a $5 bill. I am a little kid, not blind. That was the day I realized my dad was the Tooth Fairy.

awww it sucks don't it?!

I remember getting a chalkboard for Christmas and my parents musta finished putting all the toys together early and had a few drinks and decided to write a note from Santa on the chalkboard. My world was O V E R. It was my mom's handwriting and I was so hurt and mad.

I found my Christmas presents in my mom's closet one year about a month before Christmas. Devastated, but I deserved it.

I was a nosy little fricker.

Even though I'm old and married now (and so are my siblings), both my parents still put presents out while we sleep and say they're from Santa Claus. Pretty sure they will do this forever.
