My Border Collie sets up my Aussie and then snitches her out. House dog rule: don't eat the cat food. BC would eat the cat food while the Aussie watched. I'd hear the bowl noise (tags hitting the metal bowl) and run to catch the culprit. When BC heard me coming she would disengage and the Aussie would hit the food. As I came around the corner BC would cock her head towards where the Aussie was as a "get her" sign and would wag her tail when I got on the Aussie.
Took a couple of months before I busted the BC's scam.

I also am up at four a.m. because my
Border Collie came into the bedroom whining like she needed to go outside. Half asleep, I get up to let her out. I turn around - she's not with me. She likes to sleep on my side of the bed next to my SO. So as I head to the door she doubles back and jumps on the bed taking my space and putting her head on my pillow. Dog is slick.

My Lab/Brittany Spaniel mix knew/knows hand signals for retrieving. Could hide a dummy in the grass in a field. Send her out and blow a whistle. She'd sit and look at me. I'd use my hands to tell he left, right, forward, or backward until she found it. She was decent at it for me not knowing what I was doing.
Spent quite a few afternoons and even lunch hours teaching her that in the field by our house. Field would flood, so it was a good time to train for that too. Finally tried to get her in water and........nope....she don't swim unless she has to. She was no duck dog and now that was just a party trick. Had a kid and she doesn't get worked much. Crazy that years later she still knows the commands, just picks and chooses when she listens.

My lab used to fetch me a beer out of my ice chest. I would pour him a lil bit as a treat for doing it. One day I was cutting grass and go in the backyard and there he was laying on the ground with a Budweiser in his mouth. He had punctured the can and was drinking the beer.

My American bulldog learned to open the back door and go out on her own. We have lever style door handles and she would put her paw on the door facing and use the other paw to push the handle down and her nose to shove the door open.
Then, when she was ready to come back in, she would do the same thing outside, only the door does not swing open that way. The door handle action was loud enough to let us know she was ready to come back in.
Learned from watching me open the door, I suppose.

My chickens know when it's bed time and run into their coop without any direction. I've even had them close their coop door before. I have to go behind them and lock it but they are smarter than most give them credit for.

My Boxer can be anywhere in the house, or sleeping. The second I call out "clean up on aisle 2" she runs into the kitchen to see if anything fell on the floor.

One more Border Collie story: I give my two dogs "Oinkies" (rolled up pigskin) treats every night. The Aussie chews up her oinkie in about ten minutes. The BC is way more leisurely, and doesn't eat it all in one sitting. So, the Aussie always tries to steal the BC's oinkie. When the Aussie steals the oinkie, the BC comes over to me, puts her head at me, then points her head over to the Aussie, then I retrieve the Oinkie scolding the Aussie for stealing it.
BC figures this out, so one day she stashes her oinkie and snitches out the Aussie when the Aussie is actually still chewing her own Oinkie. So, I take away the Aussie's oinkie and the BC gets two.
Took me a couple of times to figure out that I was being had. Once I busted the BC, she never tried it again.
The first border collies were in Scotland and were left alone with flocks of sheep, so they had to solve problems that arose. They are very smart.

Can we get a LGBTQWHATEVER board for all these figs and their cats?
Nahhh, but we can surely get an LGBTQASSHOLE board so you feel included.
Best trick any of my dogs have ever done was turn a flip in midair when jumping up to get a leaf off of a tree branch. Was cool.
Cats don't do tricks. They train you. At least that's how it works in our house.

When he wants to go outside for a w-a-l-k and I'm on the recliner, he will jump up and put front paws on the leg rest part and sling it down. It is a nap ruiner, but it gets me up.
And he throws on this sweet little innocent face afterwards. Pretty h*ckin' cute.

My dog understood at least 40 words and knew all my friends and family member's names. She learned to retrieve golf balls from the 25 foot deep concrete ditch at Webb Golf Course and "freeze" around the green and tee box when golfers were putting or driving.
Only dog they allowed on the golf course. Had better etiquette than most golfers.
I sure miss that dog.

Not a damn thing. My dog hasn't even learned how to not get tied up in his leash. It's a good thing he's cute as hell.
