I don't get why he is doing this. Why is @xvideos suspended? Was it already suspended or is it to make way for twittervideos becoming xvideos?

Seems like a doofus move from where I'm standing, but obviously he is smarter than I am.

Lots of internet dinguses know Elon for Tesla and SpaceX. I remember him for merging with another company and kinda sorta getting Paypal going.

What a strange brag

It's a smart branding move to get away from Twitter in conjunction with the upgrade and new features plus ... it sorta goes well with his other ventures. More futuristic and techy.

Tesla (more than just cars)
Space X (more than just rockets, to include satellites, internet and pioneering other planets)
X (more than just social media ... a news service, entertainment venue and soon to be an interplanetary, interspaceship medium for communicating)

If I recall, he has some grand vision of what social media will be. It will be an AI/Twitter/FB type product. He calls it X.

If algebra taught me anything is was that X = everything.

Likely motivated by obstinacy and hubris, per Business Insider.

Musk chose the name "X.com" for the company that later became PayPal.
quote:

PayPal executives felt branding would be an issue because of the "pornographic associations of the letter X."

The name never stuck: Disagreements within the company, including around the x.com name, would soon be followed by Musk's ousting in late 2000.

Ego ( he is entitled to it)
His first business was online banking called X.com
It struggled but merged with another online banking company ( his main competitor at the time….. ) they merged and he ran it but when on vacation the board ousted him as CEO and made Peter Thiel the CEO…
They rebranded it to PAYPAL… latter sold it and he took his money and ventured into others things like buying a struggling electric company called Tesla and surviving on government kickbacks to promote electric cars.. Thiel went into other things and does a lot with the LI family in Indonesia area( was one of the richest families on the world .. may still be)

He bought the X.com name back when it was available..

Some fascinating history behind him and his businesses…

Idk, he’s made some good business decisions and bad.

I guess I just laugh at the people who question him on Twitter, they work for someone else. They really have never taken any sort of business risk in their life.

Supposedly he tried to change PayPal to X , when he was with them, it got quickly shot down.

Also, allegedly, Zuckerberg owns the trademark for X as a social media entity.

Also Elon ripped the design for X from a musician.
