Honestly if my 3 kids were killed in an accident that money wouldn't mean shite too me. I would be a zombie after that and life would suck. Some people may be able to move on me probably not.

One of the major problems with the cost of auto liability coverage in our state is this:
1) tons of uninsured drivers who get away with no coverage; and,
2) the fact that a defendant in a civil matter is not entitled to a jury trial if the matter in dispute is less than $50,000. This leaves the case up to the elected judge who is many times a trial lawyer stooge and he can “suggest” appropriate settlement numbers slanted towards the plaintiff (and the lawyer).
Louisiana has the highest threshold amount for a civil jury trial in the US and the majority of the rest of the states are a fraction thereof. That is our problem.
Oh, and drive through daiquiri shops. Jeebus.

She is doing the best she can basically for her youngest daughter. But she is in counseling and on meds. And has to take off work for several days when one of their birthdays comes up or it is the anniversary of their death.

Why do you want all those good hard working prospective jurors and chosen jurors to have to take off work to adjudicate a minimum policy car accident case? It's a waste of everyone's time. They should raise the jury threshold.

Louisiana rates set to increase
Article is written terribly but has some good points

So what's a reasonable settlement? Totaled my car, received abrasions and deep bruising, loss of motion and strength for a month, missed three days work and haven't been able to play golf, yet.
Insurance offered $1000 for my pain and suffering. Told them "I'm going to go see an orthopedic specialist while you think about that offer you made me. Talk to you in a few weeks."
Insurace claims agent must think I'm stupid.

No offense to my boy, Festus, but I can’t imagine being an insurance adjuster for non-represented claims. That’s gotta be one of the slimiest jobs in the world.

shite you don't have to be unrepresented. i don't really advertise my PI stuff much and adjusters offer me a sweet early settlement deal of $500 + meds on the few PI cases i handle

I’d write their names down and wouldn’t take their calls in the future

I received a decent amount of money. Hit by a car thrown onto another car. Broken jaw and they feared fractured neck at first, so spent the night in the hospital. Several procedures to fix bite and orevent TMJ issues from the broken jaw. Facial scarring neck, pain for a year, etc. Insurance adjuster tried to deny pretty much any issue I had. I'd have walked away with far less, but he pushed to the point where I had to lawyer up. They paid more than triple what I'd have taken.

i just got a client in today to sign a verification and a pauper form for a case b/c she pissed me off and was a c-word during my dad's death last year. i tried to be nice but she was annoying calling me and so i figured out her email and emailed her and she got PISSED. i told her only emails or faxes from now on and she hasn't called back so i'm just filing. frick it. usually you get a different litigation adjuster anyway

Call an attorney dumbass If someone hits you then you treat insurance companies like the cops, you never talk to them without an attorney.

I bet she puts BA, MBA behind her name in her email signature. Pet peeve of mine and tells me what I’m dealing with from the getgo

Never have gotten a dime from an accident, but I did get $400.00 from my insurance once after a hail storm, and pocketed it.
Does that make me a bad person?
