Former coworker of mine got several million in a settlement from a car accident that killed her 3 youngest children. Her and her remaining living daughter are now financially secure.

I know she would give back every single penny of it to have just one more day with those 3 kids.

I would give you a thousand upvotes if I could. Who do people think is paying for all these loser shysters' huge monuments to themselves-their buildings with helipads, hundreds of billboards and incessant TV commercials? We are. Because of our archaic laws and crooked judges these bottom of their law class bottomfeeders are getting rich at a cost to every single one of us. At least those of us that actually purchase insurance. frick those criminals and the crooked judges and idiot juries that enable them.

Not me personally, but my mom got sued for 250k from a fender bender. Lady had a long history of back problems and lawsuits related to them, but of course my mom's insurance needed to pay the full amount to get her help. She was triple dipping at least on that back injury from what we could find. Complete POS.

I was also a juror on a local case that got settled for 360k. Similar case where a guy got tapped (less than 5mph) by a girl. He had a looooong history of back injuries, but the girl had to pay out as if she caused all those injuries.

The thing that irritated me more than the guy seeking that amount (he was legitimetly hurt from what I could tell) was how much the jury was willing to give him in a mock deliberation. They truly see it as "free money" for the most part.

$10,000 for wrecking my truck (my fault.. I hydroplaned and went to the other damn lane and hit someone in oncoming traffic).

It was valued at around $3,500 on KBB and my insurance gave me $10,000.00.

ETA- this was a 2003 Tacoma

She said her knee hurt and was a little swollen. A lawyer sent her to a doctor for confirmation of an injury. Insurance company settled. My car has never been the same even after the repairs. That’s the real tragedy of the situation.

No, thanks. I wish they’d all go away. They bastardize the process and make legitimate claims harder to settle.

Nothing. Closest I came is when some uninsured dipshit offered me a bicycle if I wouldn't call the cops after he rear ended me.

Go frick yourself pussy. You don’t know if she was hurt or not and what kind of pain she was in.
You’re only assuming because you’re an idiot.

You don’t have to sue someone to file or collect on an injury claim.

Anyone that brags about getting anything beyond medical bills and car repair can eat a dick.

So if you end up paralyzed after being in a head on collision with a drunk driver on a one way street, you will ask for medical bills and $1500 for your civic?

Sure buddy, thanks for keeping our rates down!

I have a co worker that I’m almost positive worked with a law firm to trump up a medical condition to stay off of work for 3 weeks to pad the damages bill.

$900. But you really couldn't see the dent in my bumper unless you knew it was there, so I pocketed that money
