I have a fraternity brother who sold his cattle to pay tuition and other large expenses. I didn't realize there was so much money to be made doing that. Good on you

I handed someone a check for 2.4 million. Handed out several over a million and many in the high six figures.

Personally, I have written checks for a couple of grand for this and that. I pretty much do all my banking online.
For work, I had to write checks for equipment, largest ever probably 25,000.

I bought a rental house with no financing. I think that may qualify as our largest check. 33k

Not sure if directly on point, but I've held an actual, negotiable check (in other words, not one of those big cardboard motherfrickers) in the mid 7 figures.

loan check for med school. The cashier didn't ask for any I.D. Didn't even look at me before handing it over. I understood how our attitude towards financial aid could lead to the student loan bubble.

Bought a condo in florida... won't disclose $$, but it was hefty.
IMO... mortgages will tend to rob you blind, on a 30 year mortgage you'll end up paying >3x the loaned amount. Pay as much as possible, get a 15 year lease on a fixed rate...

I went to get a Cashier's check from my bank once (or certified, don't remember which). I never knew they wouldn't write one for over $99K. I had to get multiple checks drawn.
