New construction here is about $270\sf. So a 3000sf house is $800,000.

ouch
Man, less than a decade ago, in Lafayette you could buy a 3000sf home for $250,000-$350,000,

I’d pay double if it meant not living in Lafayette.

What’s so bad about Lafayette? Probably one of the nicest and safest cities in Louisiana.

The median listing home price per square foot was $225 in 2021.

In 2022, it has gone up to about $260

It's just not the kind of town I would want to live in. It's fine for what it is, it's just not for me.

Plus, the whole "in Louisiana" part.

River Ranch, Fernwood?

Definitely not Fernwood anymore. The most expensive neighborhoods are River Ranch, The Vinyard, and Audubon Plantation.

I can’t understand why someone would buy in AP knowing what a cluster it is to get out. I won’t even visit my friends there

Just built one last year and it closed for $156/sf. Luckily locked in the contract before lumber went crazy. Same floor plan is selling for $176/sf in my neighborhood. Ascension Parish

In Nashville. My condo unit would go for $500+ per sqft. SFHs in less desirable areas go for $350+. It's insane. No sign of slowing down.

$160-$180

Which is a bargain since it's easily $220+ now for new construction.

Lafayette, LA?

What's wrong with it? One of my favorite towns.

Price per square foot is the single most useless metric in real estate.

There's too many variables for it to ever be consistent.

My neighborhood is about $150-$200 square feet

I bought mine @ $88sqft because I waited until somebody died.

You should wait until a homeowner dies

There are so many factors in this that the entire topic is useless. This is just a thread for people to brag about how low their $/sqf is when in reality that’s a reflection of you living in a lower quality area or having a lower quality house
