Hijack:
But does anyone know websites to get a good hat anymore?
Went local shopping the other day it was all one size fits all, flat bill caps. I went to about 3 places before I gave up.
Do they still make individual sizes? Or is this the new normal?

I hand wash mine with a mild soap and I stuff a towel inside of it and either set it on the counter to dry or use the hair dryer to dry

Was this a classic hat (like old brand/store) or just a random hat?

It's a hat with a 3 on it for Dale. It's classic to me.

Always throw mine in washer and let hang dry. Only time one of my hats lost shape was when the wifey (no pics) threw it in the dryer

Throw it away
or
wash it in a washing machine, while still wet put it on your head to air dry.
That way it’ll shrink to a perfect fit

That is wasteful. If I can't get rid of the smell then I'll donate it to goodwill.

first of all, the dishwasher idea is dumb. that does less than a washing machine using hot water.
secondly, if it has cat pee, you might as well burn it bc it's not coming out.
most importantly, if it's just sweat, you need legitimate bacterial killer. Vinegar, baking soda, etc are mediocre bacteria killers. The most important step is going to be soaking it for at least 24 hrs in a strong antibacterial chemical. If you're going to use vinegar, get a vinegar that is not diluted. diluted vinegar is a straight waste of time.
Let me repeat, you are trying to kill bacteria. not perspiration. the toughest challenge is that all consumer products are so heavily diluted they're garbage.

You have to wash it. I’d put it in the dishwasher with one of those hat things designed to be used in the dishwasher.
If the hat gets ruined, then oh well. You had to wash it no matter what.
But it won’t get ruined. Just wash it.
