I thought I had a built in one on my Galaxy S21, but can't find it. I've been getting spam calls about every 5 minutes over the last couple of days. Been real bad lately.

Looking at RoboKiller, Truecalle, Hiya on the PlayStore.

Are these good? Any advice? Thanks.

Do you not have a stock "screen unknown callers"?

I have no idea. It may. I may not have it set up correctly.

I'm not much into any cell phone pissing matches. I don't care about that stuff at all.

to be fair, he has a S21. Android is now on the S26 which does block spam automatically.

Absolutely this. Nobody gets my number, particularly websites. If I just have to enter one I give them the number of someone I do not like

Some carriers have stuff built in. If you have ATT, active armor. Newer phones also block automatically.

Or get a fischer price iphone where you can only call mom and dad.

There is an app called "Calls Blacklist" that has a setting that blocks all calls from numbers that are not in your address book and any that you whitelist. If you can deal with that, it is excellent. It will also let you blacklist individual numbers although I find that to be a useless feature. My phone, or AT&T (I don't know which) block most, but not all, spam calls.

Your phone should have a built in Call Assist function that can auto-screen spam calls.

LINK
Link says S26, but as long as your phone is up to day with the current software and operating system it should have the same settings.

quote:

Open the Phone app on your Galaxy phone.
Tap the More options icon (three vertical dots) in the top right corner.
Tap Settings > Call screening, then turn on the switch to activate the feature.
Auto screen calls: Enable automatic screening for unknown callers.
Language: Select or download your preferred language for transcription.
Voice: Customize the assistant's voice and adjust speech speed.

I recently downloaded youmail and I like it. It's a free voicemail that transcribes messages and has built in spam features.

I created a custom mode on my phone. It blocks all notifications for calls but not text messages. Still get the call, and still goes to voicemail, but doesn't interrupt my phone with whatever I am doing. You can also set the default ringtone as silent -- then assign a ringtone to the contacts who you do want to hear from.

I found the setting to "block all unknown calls", but I guess that will block any actual work calls from people that I don't have in my contact list...

Oh well...

Exactly, if they really need me then they'll leave a voicemail or text
