Family on both sides. I asked my wife the other day where she would want to move if we could go anywhere and she said South Louisiana, so I don’t think we are leaving any time soon. I’ve been looking at Knoxville as a possibility, but I’ve got a lot of work to convince her to do it. Once the kids get to a certain age we will probably just wait it out and see where they go in life.

Family and job. Now that job is tits up for the foreseeable future, looking at getting in a different industry. Wife and I are keeping our options open. You guys make Idaho and. Montana sound nice.

Job. If my job could be done somewhere else I would be gone. Where I am is a really good place, but it’s not the beach or Montana.

I was born and raised in south La. after graduating I lived in three different states during college and currently reside in the last one. My wife’s family is from here. If I could, I would strongly consider moving to Idaho, Montana, Wyoming area. Never been, but the summers have to be nice, and I’d love to hunt big game up there regularly. There’s certain things I miss about south La but as I’ve aged and moved away, I’m glad I’m not down there anymore.

I'm looking at moving out of New Orleans in the next 1 to 2 years - buy a lot at eastern edge of Alabama, near Florida / Perdido on a river a little up north from the beach.

Have a good work opportunity, will be closer to my dad, on some water for fishing, away from a lot of bullshite, etc.

54 years old. Born and raised on this 16 acres. My parents and sister still living here. I have a good job and I like my space. I do hate these Louisiana roads though.

Moved back to Baton Rouge from Houston in December. Missed South LA. Got a good job opportunity to come back. Definitely the right decision for us personally.

If I could try somewhere else... I’d say Wyoming or Montana. Remote and beautiful areas with tons of outdoor space just sound appealing. Plus, there aren’t a ton of people. Biggest thing I missed about LA was the outdoor activities and culture.

The summers are nice. They are short though.

The winters are long and brutal.

Nothing. We moved 3 years ago the week after getting married. It was incredibly scary and we wanted to go home a few times, but decided against it after some very tough homesickness. We couldn't have made a better choice.

Running away from your issues is impossible, but a change of environment can help you attack those issues from a different angle. We were stuck in the mud in Louisiana. Many people could benefit from moving away from their home.

Wife and I both have good jobs and make really good money. We live in a cool area, few blocks from the beach, and our work commute during non-pandemic times is a ten minute boat ride.

Unfortunately our city is on a path to socialist destruction, which makes me question the long term viability of living here.

Nothing, I’ve been waiting for the right opportunity for a while now. Yes, I will miss my family but I can get home quickly if needed. The biggest thing is being away from my children. But, they need to grow up too and be adults. I can support them from anywhere.

Compared to blazing heat 5 months of the year and no seasons? I’m just saying, there are pros and cons to each

Where at? I suggest trying it. I was in the same boat as you. 7 years later, I’m grateful I did it.

Dump her and move elsewhere.
