Reagan: "Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall..."

That was one of the 80's goats. Brought about the end of the cold war.

You’d need a telescope to read them.

MacArthur's address at Westpoint. Better known as "Duty, Honor, Country".

Duty Honor Country

A close second to that one is a speech (well, mre like a TED talk) called "Who packs your Parachute?" by Charlie Plumb. Try to find the original version. Definitely worth a listen.

I'm certainly not a fan but as psychotic as he was, Adolf Hitler was a master at building the energy and capturing the masses in his speeches.

This isn’t Hitler. It’s Charlie Chaplin. In fact this movie was a protest against the dictators at the time, made while the US was still neutral in the war.

Well, I believe in the soul... the cock...the pussy... the small of a woman's back... the hangin' curveball... high fiber... good scotch... that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent overrated crap... I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a Constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve, and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days. Goodnight.

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius,
Commander of the Armies of the North,
General of the Felix Legions,
Loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius,
Father to a murdered son,
Husband to a murdered wife,
And I will have my vengeance -- in this life or the next.

quote:

Fratres! [Brothers!] Three weeks from now I will be harvesting my crops. Imagine where you will be, and it will be so. Hold the line! Stay with me! If you find yourself alone, riding in green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled, for you are in Elysium, and you're already dead! Brothers, what we do in life... echoes in eternity.

quote:

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
