Ditto. For sure government anti-poverty legislation didn't help. Regarding destruction of traditional low income families, the enactment of a government welfare program called "Aid to families with Dependent Children" essentially created a permanent class of families headed by single moms. The single moms popped out babies from multiple sperm donors. More babies...more welfare benefits.
Certainly IRS tax laws and manipulation of currency were contributing factors. Inflation brought on by manipulation of currency created dual income families. Husband worked, wife had to work.....kids come home from school to an empty house. Created "Latch-Key" kids.
Add mass media, especially television and "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" and bingo you have frustration resulting in widespread "unrealized expectations". Progressive Liberal Politicans pick up on the frustration and pump money to the masses, especially the so-called disenfranchised [victims]. Got to have "victims" and you have to get them to the polls. System perpetuates itself.
Lastly those who created this mess, must pass off the blame for all this to someone else. We're witnessing that effort being played out in places like Ferguson, Missouri right now. The Nazis did it with the Jews, and the obama/holder crowd are doing it with the "White Males of European descent".
What a mess!

I think the OP can be better stated as shitty parenting. That is the problem. I agree that shitty single parents would have also been shitty married parents, so the divorce is a symptom, not the cause.
I fully believe that the most effective way to right the ship is via parenting. It's something we can do as individuals yet it has such a profound effect on the entirety of society.

While I don't totally disagree, relativism is a more profound problem than any single item, I think. I'm for a liberally governed society, but I'm not for a society that exalts moral equivocations.
