man i feel like a dumbass for taking up for him some. The damage that man and f king caused just from the changes in admissions alone is going to take years to fix.
luckily we have 2 very high caliber people in charge now but going to to take a while to get the shipped turned around
just think 25 years ago....Mark Emmeret had us up to #60 on the public university list and if we would have just continued that path ...would have gotten into the top 100 overall. Campus rode the initial cuts during the 09 financial crisis out well but that second cut and hiring of F King and then Slick willy fricked the school so bad

What does the new Space X project have to do with improving the university?
The application numbers are far and away the best the school has ever been. We just need to be more selective. I don’t see any reason why LSU main campus should be 43,000 students. You’re opening the door to thousands of ghetto trash that have no business being in college anyway. Obviously it’s a cash grab by the university but the influx of money isn’t worth the reputational damage.

ummm if done correctly and space x is used to help co-ops and advertised correctly and the correct changes made to the mechanical engineering + areospace minor program its a complete game changer for the school

na not a cash grab. this was the vision of F king and then slick willie. very clear
but space x coming here has the ability to change the engineering and business school. Going to take a lot of work with the state gov though. need to build an LNG center of Excellence like McNeese did that is a public/private partnership. Build an aerospace one in conjunction with space x.
start recruiting the frick out of the best students looking to go into areospace and beef up the program big time.
I wrote this in the space x thread but its exactly how you change the outlook of LSU, ULL and McNeese using the Space X news and campus as the backbone

McNeese should be promoting the frick out of them being one of the best ROI engineering programs in the country. They were number 1 a couple years back and were top 5 most of the 2010s in terms of ROI. They just created the LNG Center of Excellence.
LSU needs to build an LNG Center of Excellence and Space X center of excellence.
Gov Landry should be pushing this too.
If done right, this is an absolute game changer for all 3 universities. But if not done correctly the once in a generation opportunity could be squandered easily.
All three should be investing big time into the MBA program too, especially LSU. higher someone from Penn Wharton to come show you or from the best large publics in terms of business schools.
and LSU should really really start upping the test scores needed to get in big time. Target top in state students and then top out of state students that come from top 10% households and for the love of god....start promoting greek life. look how much that and athletics have helped advance other SEC universities.
and the gov needs to play a role in this by stationing NG throughout the city but really around LSU. make it safe AF so the families with money feel comfortable sending their kid there.
also need major investment at Sowela (already thriving) and South LA Community College and another in BR
need to expand all the programs at Sowela that could be placed in at SpaceX and create a spin off of the air maintenance program to include space maintenance.

LSU already has everything in place in terms of programs. They need to remodel it some to be more in line with learning AI and change the mechanics of materials cert to be a true minor or beef up the cert.....but man this literally could change the school
same way LNG has changed McNeese but even McNeese needs to go all in on this and create the aerospace minor especially with Northrop already here.
the governor needs to be all over this with the presidents of the 3 universities and with Elon. need to create a fricking pipeline.
and if the feds greenlight nuclear plants or more refineries....need to be all over getting more of them here and using he same type of strategy at the schools to form that pipeline
need to recruit the frick out of tesla too and get it here, same with the data centers
all new data centers should come with investment at one of the colleges in terms of producing a much better program there that can supply those companies with great people
they will need them with the way Trump is about to hammer H1B
if done correctly.....LSU could rival Florida in 15 years as a top 50 university and top 20 public. has to be done correctly. McNeese and ULL could become top 150 universities with top engineering schools. I mean McNeese's engineering program is currently top 5 in the ROI rankings with median starting salary at ~80k, ULL has a payback of 3.9 years which is really good and LSU already has a very good engineering program
it only takes leadership at the state and university level to make this happen. once in a generation opportunity

im not surprised at all
despite what the rant thought, Rousse was a frickin rock star for McNeese and got the LNG center built. I expect the same kind of results at LSU and add Dalton in who is as impressive as can be in terms of resume and the job he has done so far and I expect no less. Hopefully both stay at least a decade and fix the fricking mess.
