More stars in the universe than grains of sand on Earth.
Can’t even begin to wrap my head around that

Alaska is the only state you can spell on one row of an English keyboard.

And "Stewardesses" is the longest word that can be typed with one hand.

And "Typewriter" is the longest word that can be typed with the keys on one row.

And why I know these things, well, I just don't know...

The up arrow symbol means the number of times you raise a number to itself. For example, 3(up arrow)3 = 3^3^3. 4(up)4 is 4^4^4^4

You only have to get to 5(up)5 and you have too large a number for a computer to handle.

To piggyback on this, a YouGov poll in 2015 showed 41% of Americans believe that dinosaurs and humans coexisted on Earth. Baffling.
And people think Scruffy is crazy for believing universal suffrage is a bad thing.

A rope wrapped around the circumference of the earth would only need 3 feet more rope added to it to make the rope long enough to be raised to 6” off the surface of the earth. That’s 6” all the way around the globe. With only 3 feet longer rope.

That doesn’t sound possible, but it’s true.

3.14 ft (1x pi) to be exact. You can apply the same calc to the moon, a basketball, or the head of a pin. Let that sink in.

We’re further away from 1980 than 1980 was from 1940.

Also, the first episode of That '70s Show (1998) is closer to the 1970s than we are to the 1990s.

We should have had a That '80s Show and That '90s Show by now.

If you placed Mount Everest at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the peak would still be 2,133 meters (7,000 feet) below sea level.

Until I came on TD I didn't even know that glorious peak existed. Someday I am going to pack my 8,000-meter suit, double boots, crampons, ice axe, oxygen mask and a couple of cylinders of Os and take on that expedition. It may be just what I need on my mountaineering CV to finally get a President's Gold Medal from the American Alpine Club.
