I did real estate appraisal for a few years. If I were young and starting out, I would be a surveyor.
Out and about doing your own thing and you can work as much or as little as you'd like.

I am not a UPS driver but you have to pay your dues and load trucks for sometimes years before you actually drive.
They do make decent money though.

National Park Service. At least half the positions are in our National Parks. Of course, there is interaction with your fellow Americans on a daily basis.

Current profession or skills, lifestyle expectation? Location in your bio says Oxford, I'd assume Oxford MS?
If you're working for $60k in a town like Oxford and want to change fields or start something of your own you've got a lot of options, if you're knocking down $300k/yr and your mortgage is $5k/mo. its not going to be very easy.

Find a gig in the outdoor industry. The business as a whole exploded this year. My company tripled sales and has a production backlog that goes into June.
I made the move a year and half ago. Left a job where I flew all around the country, had to answer every call and email almost immediately, and worked my arse off. I went to work for a small company that makes adventure equipment. I make a little less money than I did before, but I work about 35 hours a week (no more nights and weekends) and get paid to go camping. I mainly spend my time documenting my use cases for the product, detailing gear in blogs, and I help find technical solutions for prospective buyers or existing owners. I’m basically a camping consultant. Since it’s a small private company I get to wear many hats. One day I’m at my desk, the next I’m in the shop helping install roof top tents and awnings. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for my own mental health and also for my family. I’m never going back to where I came from.

Is there a way I can reach out to you so I can pick your brain? Been wanting to make a similar move for a while now and am almost there. I just need a little bit of guidance from someone in the know.

What about an analyzer technician? I’ve considered taking a 6 month trade schools tote class and do this for the next 20 years. It seems like steady, easy, honest way to make a living.
This can be a tough line of work to break into. There are a lot of folks that want these kind of gigs because of the reasons you listed. If you work really hard and are sharp you can get there.
I went this route. I had to move out of state for 4 years to get the experience I needed to compete for a controls and automation position at a big company. I basically spent 4 years doing everything I could to become attractive to a future employer this included going through a trade school like you mentioned then continuing classes for the 4 years I was out of state to include PLC programming, EMT Basic and so on. Even with all of that, I barely got hired because it’s Louisiana and I didn’t know anyone.
24 years with the same company and it was worth the work.
