You're right. Politicians lying isn't a new thing. An administration that literally cannot keep their lies straight, as in not a single one of them knows what lie the other is telling is a rarity, indeed. They are just terrible fricking liars, to the point that it would almost certainly be better for them to always tell the truth 100% of the time. Hell, that would be way better than lying only to be proven a liar by someone in your own damn office by stating the exact opposite of what you said on the same day you said it. It is just.....embarrassing.

I think you’re overstating the lies being perpetrated here plus it’s nowhere near as damaging as Trump lying and continuing to lie about the election

No one thought Rome would fall, President Trump would be President, or a "modern" German society in the 20th century could do the things they did. Saying X won't happen is exactly how you get X.
