I dated a girl that decided 27 was the perfect age to develop a pretty nasty cocaine habit. After a few unfortunate events and refusing my offers of putting her in rehab, i took her to her parents house, told them she had a problem and needed help and haven't spoken to her since.

Just curious, where is your evidence for this statement? You can say a lot of things about Trump, but he loves him the hell out of some America.

1. She suddenly shaves her head for no reason (not medical or to show support for someone with cancer, but just to be EDGY)
2. If she suddenly turned into a 3rd wave feminist SJW
3. If she suddenly turned up with a major case of VD
4. She committed sone kind of serious crime that indicates she cannot be trusted
5. Suddenly picks up a nasty drug habit or nicotine addiction

Yeah, but I hope you find this out way before several months after dating her.
My b. I thought you meant if anything happened out of nowhere, whether realist or not.

Besides the obvious cardinal sins of acquiring insurmountable debt, cheating, extreme drug use(meth, crack, heroine, etc)
More likely things that could happen based off observation
1. Rapid weight gain. Some people just get way to comfortable and have been waiting to just anchor down with someone. I have seen a lot of guys put a ring on it and 1-2 years later Shamu occupies their house.
2. Developing or revealing yourself to be a hoarder or a slob in general. I get it if you don’t want to clean up after me...a grown man but you better pick up after yourself. Also no attachments please to a paper plate from 3rd grade. Seriously Hoarders are weird...Trolls and Dwarfs at least hoard valuable shite.
3. An out of whack crazy/emotional/rampage scale. Most guys have come to grips with a female that is capable of being overly emotionally erratic and crazy for 1 week a month. It is expected that on a month to month basis that full week will not always be utilized. Females that go overboard for over 25% a month are just nut jobs. Watch any horror movie...the antagonist never goes full psycho for over 25% of the movie. If you have a problem with these ratios( I have seen some batshit crazy moms) you need to be medicated. Sanity is not a day to day struggle you bipolar frick.

My wife passed away in 2017 and I connected with an old friend of my deceased wife and I. Her husband, who was a close friend of mine passed away a few years ago. Both of our spouses passed in quick tragic circumstances.
What would it take for either of us to stop dating? I think the return of our spouses.

Cheating or finding out they kept a huge secret from me (like massive debt or a drug problem).

Extremely common for people who were married 20+ years to date and/or remarry “quickly” after the death of a spouse. Also very common for the new partner to be an old friend of the person or former spouse.

Your parents are human beings too. I know right, shocked me when I found that out too.

I've done this many times.
All it takes is liking someone else, like really liking.
Like really.
Liking
Really.
And signing my yearbook.

Rouge - true story. Wife and I laying in bed January 2017 she is on Facebook and I am reading a book. She said look xxxx has a boyfriend. Xxxx was the wife of a good friend of mine who had died. I grabbed wife’s iPad to look and immediately felt sick. How could she do this, etc. my wife was laughing at me.
Fast forward couple of months and my wife passes away suddenly and totally unexpectedly. After a few months and lunches/dinners etc I start dating our old friend. I sought out xxxx, my friend’s wife who had started dating to apologize to her.
My question for you is what is too soon? A day, a week, a month, six months, a year, three years? The answer is different for each person. Not to argue with you, but you don’t have a clue. You think you do, but you don’t and you will never know until it happens to you.
I would hope you or your parents never have to face the loss of a spouse and face the loss and the decisions that come with it. Other than the loss of a child, I cannot think of anything more brutal than my past year.
