Just spay or neuter violent criminals and repeat offenders while they're in jail.

Would there be a huge crime drop immediately?

How much of an impact would this have on incarceration rates 20 years down the road?

Agreed...that's why I believe the benefits would be delayed.

No. There would be a rise due to all the SJW protests.

Probably fairly significant. At the very least, everyone would spend their afternoons holding hands and dancing in a circle frolicking with puppies.

I'm a libertarian, but I'm interested in what some fashions of eugenics could do. I think the next big revolution is going to be a 100% birth control method that can be tested for. People on certain government subsidies would have to show they are taking it to maintain the subsidies. At some point we have to stop the shitty welfare cycle, people who cannot afford to have kids, popping them out, and the kids thinking everything is fine.

Cruel and unusual punishment is the counter argument, but I see nothing cruel or unusual about this idea.

Seems like the kind of thing you'd read coming from some 3rd world muslim hell hole like Libya, Saudi Arabia, or Somalia.

I like it here in the first world, thank you.

I wonder how many people here that agree with this would also identify as pro-life?

I'm all for it, but most of these people procreate at such a young age, they already have 3 kids by the time they are a "repeat" offender.

I'd be willing just to execute them.

I'd be on board for the birth control requirement to continue being on government assistance. If you can't afford to provide for yourself and existing dependents, then you don't need to be creating more dependents that become financial responsibility of taxpayers. Then once the person is capable of supporting themselves and their dependents without government subsidies, they can stop taking the BC if they want.

The ones who are government subsidized aren't typically responsible enough to take a pill everyday. It'd have to be an IUD or long lasting injection. They have access to all the free condoms they could want and still don't use them

Even Nikola Tesla was on board...

The year 2100 will see eugenics universally established. In past ages, the law governing the survival of the fittest roughly weeded out the less desirable strains. Then man’s new sense of pity began to interfere with the ruthless workings of nature. As a result, we continue to keep alive and to breed the unfit. The only method compatible with our notions of civilization and the race is to prevent the breeding of the unfit by sterilization and the deliberate guidance of the mating instinct. Several European countries and a number of states of the American Union sterilize the criminal and the insane. This is not sufficient. The trend of opinion among eugenists is that we must make marriage more difficult. Certainly no one who is not a desirable parent should be permitted to produce progeny. A century from now it will no more occur to a normal person to mate with a person eugenically unfit than to marry a habitual criminal.

I don't give a frick.

Forcefully removing the sexual organs of people is far too much power for a government to have.

I'll bet the victims of these criminals might say otherwise.
