The Kardashians are sadly going to be very significant as an important touchstone of the decade. Celebrity as a new religion that can be monetized via social media alone.

The "Social Justice War" has been going on since 2011. I kno at the time we all rightfully mocked Occupy Wall Street in the fall of 2011, but now looking back it's obvious that it was the turning point of many things in this decade. Occupy Wall Street gave us the rise of SJW's, using hashtags to get an agenda across nationwide, the first of countless social media protests, and most importantly it was the first time that a group was able to weaponize Social Media, which has gone on to define this decade. So as much as it pains me to say, the Occupy Wall Street movement was the genesis of the 2010s culture.

I would think it has to be the complete saturation of technology into our lives. We had cellphones in the 2000s, but the dependence and capability of them and other technologies has advance by a lot.

I was thinking something like this. Smart phones weren’t around until the back half of the 2000s, same with the prevalence of social media. Both have grown enormously in the 2010s to permeate our very existence. It’s part of what society is today. The things we are capable of from the palm of our hand is outstanding...Amazon, grocery/food delivery, dating apps, Uber/Lyft, banking or really any financial transaction, unlimited music or video library, job searching, business meetings, getting messages out in mass to our network and beyond, etc. The world is a vastly different place now than the 2000s.

I doubt it, the “far right” is simply reactionary.
