I’m old enough that my happy place now is my home. In my childhood, it was my grandmother’s house. I helped my mother clean the house out after my grandmother passed away and it was very difficult. I have videos I took and sent to the family my last day there. It’s been inhabited since because time stops for no one, and the changes I see when I pass by hurt, but it will never be the same. The memories are worth more than the physical place.

I watch people hiking into the woods and building forts and others camping in placs they find on their own.

My happy place is constantly changing. Right now, home in the Florida panhandle on 5 acres with stocked pond. Next week, Omaha Ne with friends at the CWS. October, rental in the Villages Florida. Anywhere it is peaceful and good friends and conversation.

Back before my wife passed it was our condo at the lake. As soon as we were halfway there in the car we could literally feel the weight of DFW stress and traffic being lifted.
