Supposedly the Holiday Inn at Airline and I-12 is some kind of swingers hotspot and hosts weird gatherings for them. Sort of a hillbilly Eyes Wide Shut situation.

I had a friend who lived off Stevendale in the early 90s. It was weird even then.

So Stevendalers do exist.
Woodlawn High was called 7th Ward School??
She had been born in the early 1940s, so her stories were great.

Eastgate Cedarcrest Camelot
Eastgate looks sketchy but it’s relatively harmless. I have an uncle who has been living there for nearly 20 years and while his house has been broken into a couple times, he claimed all they were just “bored teenagers”
Camelot OTOH, is completely normal compared to Easgate despite being adjacent. I had a ton of friends that lived there growing up and seemed like it was mostly young families or older couples. Of course that was 20-25 years ago and demographics may have changed since then but I thought it was a great neighborhood.
To answer the OP, I thought Magnolia Woods off Staring Lane felt strange. In college, I had a friend who rented a house from his parents and we would often hang out there, well into the wee hours of the night. One night a group of us were over there hanging out, and at the same time a couple blocks away, an armed robbery was taking place on another group of college kids. That literally could’ve been us.

Here's another one: The subdivision that backed up to Avalon off Millerville. Anyone remember the name of that neighborhood?

When I’m driving on Sherwood from the Interstate to Florida (to hit the Asian mart), I drive slow and look at all the cool outdated houses and think of the oddball fun the hood was in the 80s. Probably parties, music, drama, sneaking out and around, and fornicating.

And then there's the Texas Club
I bounced there a couple of times, it was a mid-20s dude dream to see MILFs coming into see Quiet Riot in leather, etc. How that place lasted where it was, I have no idea. There would be a body in the parking lot every weekend nowadadays.

Riverdale? Avalon backed up into 2 neighborhoods. One from late 70s on boreas and ome from 80s/90s which I think is riverdale

The area just north of Perkins off Moss Side Lane just a little east of College Drive. It always appeared to be a 100% upper middle clsss black neighborhood with pristine streets, beautiful lawns, and big houses. Not very common in the south. A. I think Kip Holden lived in the area?

That seems familiar, so probably that one. I remember some of the kids from that area. They were rough.

So can you just show up and hang out? Or…?

I haven’t been there in 30 years, but Melrose Place neighborhood back then felt frozen in 1950. All old people and manicured yards in the middle of what has to be the hood now.

North Foster, going towards Airline Highway. The house on the left, had the painted murals on the outside. The guy was a good artist.

I used to drive through there often for a time and wondered what was up with it. Very normal-nice, clean. Very low key too.

Horseshoe Bend (the “island” at the end) always seemed crazy to me.
I used to just drive around EBR, AP, and LP looking for weird stuff and listening to podcasts back when I needed to get out of the house to clear my head. I also used to scout locations for shows occasionally and would find good stuff.
Carville and that warehouse area at Sorrel Ave and Choctow were also noteworthy. Lots of NBR in fact, but it wasn’t worth risking my life.

Lol nice.
I love these threads. Some sketchy shite was going down in Shenandoah in the 80s I can tell you that.

No. You’re thinking of the show Stranger Things. I was all riding my huffy all over the neighborhood. The random porn mags under empty house doormats was just me and my friends.
