White water raft guide in glacier national park. Tips were great and lots of afternoons to fish and hike. I'd have done the job for free.

Wavepool lifeguard at bayou segnette state park when I was 15-18. Each of us would save probably 15/20 kids a summer. But we had a lot of downtime too. 4.50 -5.50 an hour and had the time of my life. Met a ton of girls, played a lot of volleyball, and ate a ton of free nachos.

Honestly hated being off I had so much fun.

When I worked at Fantasea Water park as a lifeguard, we work shift work (2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 3 off). I would go there every single day I was off (unlike Blue Bayou, we had free passes all summer), and there would always be one of the girls wanting off and I'd pick it up.

At nearly $5 an hour in 1984, I thought I was rolling in easy dough. Minimum wage was $3.35.

I worked two summers at a Scout camp. First summer was teaching shotgun shooting and rifle shooting. The second summer I helped run the ropes course.

Worked at a local hardware store/garden center when I turned 18. Was there for about 3 years. The amount of practical, everyday knowledge I picked up there was absolutely invaluable. Great environment and so much practical advise that prepared me for homeownership. I’ve told all my kids they have to work at one when they reach the right age.

I used to work filling up snack and drink machines. I used to eat candy bars and chips anytime I wanted. Also, when I was thirsty I would open up a coke machine and get a cold drink out and it would come in handy a lot of times. The best was filling the machines in the all girls dorms and you see some stuff that you wouldn’t at a business office. Now that i changed jobs I miss getting a cold drink out or eating a bag of peanut m&ms anytime I wanted. I would have still been working for them if my boss didn’t screw up the company.

Making and selling tie dye t-shirts at the market in the French Quarter in the late 80s. I’ve never had so much ready cash in my pocket, even now, and have not had another job where I could meet so many different available young women so easily.

I enjoyed radio, until I got tired of working for nothing.

Most fun was working at a 4-H camp in the summer. My boss was an old buddy of mine, outside all day, and on Friday when the kids left, we could get lunch from the kitchen. Unlimited fricking around, as long as the work got done.

Mr. AbitaFan08 and I actually met serving as State Senate aides for two senators in the LA Legislature. It paid a per diem, but you could pretty much guarantee you could hit up a party or event 3-4 nights out of the week with outstanding food and open bar.

We had more than a few nights hanging out drunk playing beer pong in the Pentagon gardens area with another well known poster on this site.

It was a great student job during college and we had a blast for the years we worked. We knew how to get out of a ticket in every place in LA except Baskin, LA. You can’t get out of tickets in Baskin.

Yup. Best job ever.

You’d do maybe an hours worth of work, hang out in an incredibly historic building, and when 5pm hit you’d head to a party with better food and alcohol than you could ever afford on your own. Then you’d wake up hung over and start it all over again.
