Phoned my brother who was on his honeymoon in Yosemite that his house had burned down.

I am legally not the one who informs the next of kin or family members that someone has passed away but I have been in the room more times than I care to remember especially when it’s a child. That is not fun

My wife had to tell my sister that our dad had committed suicide. Never forget that night.

Earlier this year, we had to tell our 9 & 8 year old sons and my 4 year old daughter that my wife lost the baby.

What made it much worse was that they went with us to find out the gender. I had to rush them out of the room and tell them the machine was broken. We told them later that evening.

Had to tell my mother and sister that my dad passed away in the emergency room with 2 doctors and 4 nurses trying desperately to keep him alive. Massive heart attack at 65 years old. They were on their way to the hospital when I reached them. Then had to go home and tell my 14 year old son who was the apple of my dad’s eye.

That’s heartbreaking. We lost one and it’s gut wrenching.

I have been blessed not have to share anything to bad.

My poor mom had to tell me that my dad passed away, and struggle to explain what suicide was to an 10 year old boy who loved his daddy.

Not break the news to, but when I was a security supervisor at a middle TN hospital, I had an experience I’ve never forgotten.
A very young Asian student at MTSU, died in a single car wreck on I-24. We kept her body in the morgue until her family could fly here. I had to hand her belongings to her parents, and I was so upset that I wasn’t able to speak their language.
I know they knew I was trying to offer condolences, but it still always bothered me that I couldn’t speak to them. I just kept imagining how horrific that was for them to lose their daughter in a foreign country.

Buddy’s brother passed away in a car accident. We were both in college and i lived the closest to him. His parents didn’t want him to find out over the phone.

I drove to his house at 1am to tell him while an uncle drove to pick him up and take him home.

I’ll never forget the sounds he made when breaking that news

Had to tell a friend that another friend had committed suicide.
Broke my mom’s death to other family members.

Way too much crap when I worked as a therapist.

Death notifications through my career. For one, an LSU student from out of state. I had to go pull him out of class in CEBA to let him know his parents died in a traffic accident. I absolutely hated it.

In a moment of clarity that my Saint of grandmother did, in fact, have Alzheimer's.

She asked me very directly. I might have made the wrong choice to answer truthfully. If I was in her shoes, I think I'd want to know if only for a fleeting moment.
