It was a Fast Track and then later a Rally's after Fast Tracks started closing.
Or are you talking about the original Raising Canes, which was catty corner to that location on State and Highland? That was an old auto mechanic/gas station (tiny) going way back.

thats in my graduation video (after ronald reagan spoke at TS) because my folks were getting gas there before driving home.
i wish i had taken a video camera & driven up and down highland road, getting murphys, godfathers pizza, the bayou, the library, that old record store, the kroger, haagen daas, the bengal, shanahans, xanthus, etc. to show to these young whippersnappers today.
who knew all of that would be gone?

There was a Pizza Hut buffet around there as well but I don't know if it was in that exact location.

Crazy how much times change. I started LSU in 2009 and that area of Campus has changed over a lot even in the last 6 years.

Across the street where Circle K sits was a place called Bono's Pizza. Used to like it as a kid. Godfather's was on top of where Highland Coffee's used to sit at the corner of Chimes and Highland.

There was another small building next to what is now the restaurant. There was a sports shop there in the 1980's, next to the bike shop, I believe.
In the early to mid 1980's the corner lot was the remnants of an old gas station.
Somewhere to the south of the present day Raisin Canes, there was a little restaurant called Round the Corner (between the bike shop and the Varsity). They had these phones attached by the booths and you called in your order. It was cool.

The Smoothie King building was Fast Track and later Rally's. Those restaurants were never in a different location. I haven't thought about it in years but I think the Canes was originally a gas station / mechanics shop before sitting vacant and being bought by Graves.
The Chipotle was the Death Valley Shell station. I know that for sure. That was my go to place to get beer when leaving Murphys.

back in the early 90s, that area was very low rent. I felt more scared on chimes street on your average friday night, than I have ever felt in denver. And there would be people and cops around.

damn son. i spent almost every night staggering home from the chimes, TAs (drinkin with linkin!) or the bayou.
never felt scared but this was the late 80s.

actual chimes street wasn't bad, but overby state was sketch. Or I felt it was. Never had a problem, but I also very safe in denver. 
and grew up in the lily white burbs, so just seeing black ppl probably sketched me out.
I do remember the three blind mice terrorizing that area for a good long while. they finally caught them but they robbed several people I knew late at night. My bike was stolen parked out front of the bayou, on friday free pool.
