One of mine was “office aide”, which consisted of crossing off names of absent kids whose parents had already called or written a note.
I figured out the attendance game real quick. Always volunteered to take the attendance sheet down in second period. No doubt. I'll wander the halls for a bit and go sweet talk the 70 yr old lady. By my second yr doing it, she loved me, never questioned anytime I had to leave or came in late.

Early 70's, Catholic HS all boys in Bay Area-When parents signed the enrolment papers, there was a codicil that said the staff could use corporal punishment (slap the snot out of your kid) if they deemed it a necessity.
Also had a yellow line running down the middle of the hallways. Hallways had lockers running down the length of them on both sides. You always had to walk with your right shoulder to the lockers on your side of the yellow line. If you didn't....Refer to paragraph-1. Was a bitch, because many times you would have to walk the length of the school, hang a u-turn and walk all the way back to a classroom that was directly across from the classroom you just walked out of.

Could you not walk perpendicular across the yellow line?

They couldn’t hit us at the catholic boarding school I went to but most of the punishments involved long hours of standing with your nose in a corner or no chairs during study hall. We took enough beatings between the fights amongst ourselves or teamed up against the “day students”

Nope. Had to go the length of the hall and hang a U-turn. They had been rules since the school originally opened in the late 40's. The yellow line was a carryover from when the school first opened and was at a much smaller site. They did it because the halls became too congested between classes. At least that's what they said. They did away with both rules by the time my youngest brother graduated in 82.

My high school was monolithic with no outside areas, other than for PE and things like ag activities. Security measures mandated that no booksacks were ever to be brought to class.

No sex with teachers, are anyone else either....

Had to wear high top white socks. In 15 years, it’s still a dumb rule.

What rules? My highschool was a lawless shite hole.

My HS had a policy of expelling any student that parented a child.
My sophomore year, a junior got pregnant and subsequently dropped out to get her GED before she started showing. Her boyfriend of two years was a guy in my class. Everyone and their mother knew he was the father and his family was good donors to the school and he was on the football team with me, so they never investigated. Let him continue until graduation.
He's still with her, by the way, fifteen years later.

Boy’s pants could not be so tight that it showed your package. I was often in detention because mine was always bulging. It was a curse!

So if a guy knocked up a girl from another school and somehow the school found out about it, the guy would get expelled?

You could grow facial hair but it couldn't connect to your hair. Like you could grow abrard and shave an inch between you sideburns and be good

They tried to ban speaking in Spanish.

Students were allowed to smoke in the student smoking section as long as they had written permission from their parents. (This was at my high school in Florida in 1989)
