I seem to remember msm suggesting that the fire was started by the davidians and not atf. Msm has always been trash, we just didnt know til the internet.

Pretty sure it was started by tear gas canisters or something like that fired in, and there were ample other examples of fires being started from them the government had.

Government agencies fumbled the operation and it got people/kids killed AND Koresh was a diabolical cult leader/pedophile actively ruining people’s lives.

this.....IMHO both can be true and both were true.

A lot of people were horrified. Mostly because kids were in the compound but also because it seemed like an abuse of power.

The FBI finally admitted in 1999 that they used canisters that could cause fires.

Young naive self thoughts: “Why would that mean man do that to all those people in his compound?”

Now: “frick those 3-letter agencies.”

"Could" doesn't mean did.

The Branch Davidians were a doomsday cult. They set the fires to end it after they took out as many ATF agents as they could and knew it was the end.

Followed right after with what you said "did" happen (set fire and killed themselves to get back at the ATF). And I guess you're sure of it due to reasons.

What was the country’s reaction to the 1993 Waco siege when that was going on?

Frankly, when I think about how charismatic figures like David Koresh, Jim Jones, Charles Manson, and Marshall Applewhite were able to dupe people even in the late 20th century, it blows my mind how so many millions (to billions) are willing to base their lives around ancient figures like Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, and Joseph Smith and the things they supposedly did and experienced (for which there is little evidence) hundreds to thousands of years ago when the world was way more insane and ignorant than it is even now.

I don’t get it beyond the fact that cultural influences are very strong, as is the fear of death.

I was 26 years old and remember it very well. I was thinking what the hell? All they had to do was wait them out. They were isolated. No way out or in. Just cut power and wait them out. Would have saved many lives.

WTF are you talking about? Why are you such a drama queen all of the time?

No one is fine with Koresh and no one here doubts he harmed kids. One of the former Davidians even basically admits it in the new Netflix documentary.

But one can reason that Koresh was a psycho and that the Government messed up and their intervention ultimately lead to over 80 unnecessary deaths. Both can be true. Only you seem to want to make it one or the other.

FYI, the initial raid wasn't even about any allegations concerning kids. That was only put out when the siege went on for weeks and weeks to paint Koresh as even more of a monster. The initial warrant was over modified weapons and them having 1.6 million rounds of ammo.

There are recordings of the Davidians talking about fuel and adding more hay to areas of the compound. The fires started in more than one spot all at the same time. It wasn't from the gas canisters.

I have no doubt Koresh convinced the people to die with him. He truly thought he was Jesues and considering he was 33 I believe he saw this as his crucifixion.

One person was trying to go back in during the fire and a cop wrestled them away. Only something like 8 people walked out of the compound after the fire.

Nobody is doing that.
But, to pretend he wasn't motivated by government actions is bullshite.
In his mind, ruby ridge and Waco were basically a declaration of war.

They had cut power and water IIRC and even used torture techniques to cause sleep deprivation. All of those techniques by the field teams harmed the job the negotiators were doing. They could have gotten all of the children out had the field dummies not been such gung-ho assholes.

Go watch the Netflix doc. Tons of info I didn't know. You can tell the negotiators have animosity to this day over how bad field command fricked them and flamed the situation.
