Since Gohan was my favorite character, Cell saga is my favorite. But the fight between SSJ Goku and Frieza is absolutely brutal and I don't think any of the fights are quite on the same level.
DBZ Resurrection F: Trunks special Goku v Frieza
Eta
Vegetas final flash against cell is my #2 favorite scene of the Cell Saga, after Gohans Ascension to ssj2

Cell for sure. But I will always say Vegeta should have been the one to kill him after he killed Trunks

Cell games easily. Though the Vegeta fights were pretty nasty as well. Everything went downhill after Cell though

Don't know about everyone else, but the show just isn't the same without the American soundtrack.
Bruce Faulconer made the show 30x more epic with his music. The show is still very good regardless, but it just seems kinda goofy with the Japanese music

As most have said, it comes down to Frieza and Cell, with my preference being Frieza. I think I prefer it because it had a sort of "military" feel to it, if that makes sense. All these different factions strategizing and plotting on each dragonball. Also lots of interesting characters of varying power levels that actually advanced the plot and served a purpose, instead of standing around like cucks, making dramatic facial expressions. I think the writing was also at its peak in the Frieza Saga, whereas the rest of the series was basically just "a bigger, more over the top badass just showed up, quick go Super Saiyan ___ and save us."
Cell was really good too though, mostly for the fights and the apocalyptic feel. Buu was just silly and GT never happened.

Original: Cell saga and Namekian saga (before Frieza)
Abridged: Namekian saga (Super Kami Guru is tGOAT)

I upvote a post once in a blue moon.
But this was one of them...

Cell. Gohan going SSJ2 for the first time was amazing.

Frieza was better than Cell as a villain imo, but the Cell saga overall was better. As has been said, when Gohan goes SSJ2, just pure insanity.

That link was in Japanese, bro.

Freiza was great because the first SS transformation was just amazing, but it was WAY too long. The Freiza Arc had 3 sagas and it just dragged on forever.
The Cell Arc was long too but the Sagas felt more divided.
I think I'll go with either the Fusion Saga or the Kid Buu saga.

It's a shame well likely never have a DVD/Blu Ray release with that music as it is so much better than the new music. The Japanese music has always been awful.

The Android saga wasn't very good, but the Cell Saga was great. Probably should have ended after the Cell saga. DBZ jumped the shark during the Buu saga and went full retard during GT
This is 100% correct. I enjoyed the Androids too fwiw. When trunks just smoked Frieza and King Cold, I went apeshit as a kid.
Imperfect cell scared the shite out of me. Perfect cell was a frickin boss.
